5 Can’t-Miss March Events in Boulder

From oysters to openings, there’s a lot going on in Boulder’s food and beverage scene in the month of March! Long-standing craft beer events, foodie-inspired dining, oyster shucking contests—and don’t forget to indulge in the final days of this year’s Denver Restaurant Week. Don’t miss out on these five March events in Boulder.

Oysters

1. High West Oyster Fest 2016 

When: March 2, 6-9pm
Where: The Boulder Theater {2032 14th Street, Boulder; 303.786.7030}
What: The annual High West Oyster Fest returns to Boulder to celebrate all things oyster as the culmination of the Jax Oyster Month. An oyster eating contest, the oyster shucking championship, music by Denver DJ Styles Davis—it’s all taking place on this March 2 event at the Boulder Theater. All of the proceeds will benefit the Blue Sky Bridge Child & Family Advocacy Center.
Cost: $35 for adults; $20 for students; $15 for kids 12 and under

2. CineCHEF

When: March 4, 5-7pm
Where: Rembrandt Yard {1301 Spruce Street, Boulder; 303.301.2972}
What: This year’s Boulder International Film Festival will once again include CineCHEF—a culinary experience featuring some of Boulder’s favorite chefs. Guests will have the opportunity to taste small bites prepared by local chefs at various tasting stations throughout the event. Attendees are encouraged to vote for their favorite dishes of the evening, and one chef will take home the “Best Boulder CineCHEF” award. Wines by Francis Ford Coppola Winery will also be served at the event.
Cost: $95 per person

3. 14th Annual Boulder Strong Ale Fest 

When: March 5, Noon-5pm
Where: Avery Brewing Company {4910 Nautilus Court, Boulder; 303.440.4324}
What: Avery Brewing Company’s annual Strong Ale Fest returns for the 14th year. The popular event features popular and rare craft beers from across the nation that ring in at eight-percent ABV or higher. Ticket pricing includes 16 pours, a commemorative glass, and more than 100 beers to sample.
Cost: $50 per person

4. Melvin Brewing Beer Dinner

When: March 17, 5:30-10pm
Where: Backcountry Pizza & Tap House {2319 Arapahoe Avenue, Boulder; 303.449.4285}
What: The 2016  Great American Beer Festival “Small Brewpub of the Year” winner will be serving up five of the Wyoming brewery’s most popular beers—all paired with dishes from the folks at Backcountry Pizza & Tap House. Five of Melvin Brewing’s most popular beers will be served and paired with five dishes from the Backcountry Pizza & Tap House.
Cost: $50 per person

5. Via Perla Restaurant Opening

When: March 21, beginning at 5pm
Where: Via Perla {901 Pearl Street, Boulder; 303.550.7889}
What: The highly anticipated third restaurant from the Walnut Street Restaurant Group is set to open its doors this month. From the owners of The Med and Brasserie Ten Ten, Via Perla is an artfully designed restaurant inspired by Italian cuisine and seasonal menu items. The restaurant will officially open to the public for dinner on March 21.
