Warm your bones with Hot Mulled Port Wine

Sneak away from the bustle of the holidays at Milk & Honey Bar {1414 Larimer Street, Denver; 303.997.7590}. Tucked away underneath the historic Larimer square, the full-service restaurant and bar serves up a wide variety of rotating cocktails paired with a menu European and American-styled fare. For a much needed getaway cocktail, we recommend making a trip underground and finding your refuge.

Need a little warming at home? Here is a recipe sure to warm your bones:

Hot Mulled Port Wine by Executive Chef Michael Shiell

Milk and Honey

Hot Port Wine

In a pot, pour a bottle of ruby port wine* with equal parts of water. Heat the pot until it starts to steam (don’t let it boil) and set aside. Use 1 teaspoon of boiled water to rinse the thick wine glasses or mugs. Pour the warmed mixture into a wine glass and stir in a 1 teaspoon of honey. Garnish with a lemon wedge and studded with cloves.

* Chef Michael Shiell recommends using a wine that is not tawny or a vintage varietal.
