On Monday, March 20, Coperta’s chef/owner Paul C. Reilly and sommelier JP Taylor, Jr, are pleased to welcome wine importer Mario Scanu for a multi-course menu celebrating Aglianico wines, a black grape grown in the southern regions of Italy, mostly Basilicata and Campania.
In partnership with Marczyk Fine Foods’ Fairfax Wine & Spirits (5100 E Colfax Ave), Sardinian-born Scanu will pair wines with a specially crafted menu of Southern Italian dishes.  The four-course menu is scheduled to include:
Strawberry suppli, pecorino fulvi, and sage

paired with Mastroberardino Rosé

Veal carne cruda, roasted garlic vinaigrette and cured egg yolk

paired with Di Majo Norante Contado

Garganelli and braised rabbit cacciatore

paired with Mastroberardino Redimore

Maccheroni Alla chitarra, Sienese pepper pasata, onion, and ‘nduja

paired with Bisceglia Gudarra
