Eight years ago, Leigh Sullivan of Sullivan Enterprises had a vision to bring the culinary talent of Denver into the national spotlight. Each year since, she has personally selected five local chefs and a beverage team to be our state’s culinary ambassadors. Some of Denver’s best known chefs have served on this team over the years, including Matt Selby of Central Bar and Bistro, Tyler Wiard of Elways, Keegan Gerhard of DBar, Troy Guard of TAG, and Jamey Fader of The Big Red F Restaurant Group.
Over the course of six months, the team comes together to create five FIVE™ dinners, with each chef playing host to the others. The proceeds from these dinners enable the entire team to represent the state at the Aspen Food and Wine Festival in June and at their finale dinner at the famed James Beard House in New York City, held this year on September 16, 2015.
This year, Sullivan has amassed a lineup of chefs as impressive as those of years’ passed. Aniedra Nichols, alumni chef and executive chef of Elway’s Cherry Creek; John Depierro, executive chef of Bones; Noah French, co-owner and executive pastry chef of Sugarmill; Kevin Grossi, chef de cuisine of Lola Mexican Fish House, and Enrique Socarras, executive chef of Suehiro Old Town. The beverage team partners Gerard Collier, bar ninja at Pinche Tacos, and Aaron Forman, owner and wine samurai at Table 6.
Stay tuned. The announcement of the FIVE™ dinner dates will be available on their website soon.
