Denver Chocolate Shops to visit on Valentine’s Day

Celebrate Valentine’s Day by visiting some of Denver’s best chocolate shops! These eight chocolate shops are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

It’s Valentine’s Day! This delectable dessert is often used as a symbol of love. A cacao-derived treat, chocolate has a long history with it having been recorded as early as 2,000 B.C. in its native Central America. Chocolate then made its way to North America and Europe being utilized for food, ceremonial drink concoctions, and currency so valuable it surpassed gold in its worth. Some chocolate lovers may agree that chocolate is still better than precious metals.

The 1800s were instrumental in how we consume chocolate today. The processing and press were created, allowing for large production of chocolate, including cocoa powder. In 1847, the first chocolate bar was invented, and by 1876, milk chocolate had emerged. Cadbury was established in 1824, Nestle in 1866, followed by Hershey in 1894. The chocolate revolution began, and it hasn’t relaxed since.

Denver has its own selection of local chocolate makers to visit. Today or any day you are looking to indulge, head to one of these shops and take a delicious, love-filled bite of history.
