Co-owner of The Ethiopian Food Truck and Konjo Ethiopian Food Fetien Gebre-Michael still faces each day with joyous enthusiasm, despite all the challenges.

What keeps me going?

I love food. I love everything about it, from shopping for the freshest ingredients, to prepping (with music in my ear), to cooking and creating something that not only I but those around me enjoy. Food is life. It has a way of pulling people together from all different backgrounds and ethnicities to share in something we all have in common: taste buds. One’s special moments throughout life often center around food, from vacations to baby showers to meetings.  

Our industry has been hit pretty hard with the pandemic, but people still need us. It’s our duty to pivot and create new ways that our customers can access our food, because at the end of the day that’s what they want. You’ve got to be able to keep up with the times. That’s what business is all about. I love this industry and I wouldn’t want to work in another industry. We’re going to keep the party going!
