Mon., Nov. 6: Bars, Breweries & Distilleries Series @ The Family Jones Spirit House

Location: The Family Jones Spirit House – 3245 Osage St., Denver

A tour and a tasting at The Family Jones Spirit House? Sounds lovely. At the craft distillery and tasting room, you’ll learn about the distillation process and find out why whiskey is brown and what makes bourbon different than rye. Tickets start at $25 and you can get yours (and more details) on Eventbrite.  

Tues., Nov. 7: So Good It’s Bizarre: A Celebration of the Unexpected Dinner @ Guard and Grace

Location: Guard and Grace – 1801 California St., Denver

Visionary chefs Andrew Zimmerm and Troy Guard are teaming up for a collaborative guest chef dinner at the Guard and Grace. Expect the unexpected, as well as a fusion of flavors, blending Troy’s modern American cuisine with Andrew’s global (and sometimes bizarre) inspirations. The chefs will share anecdotes from their culinary journeys, upping the ante on a special evening. The event benefits Chef Troy’s homeland of Hawaii, supporting the Kokua Restaurant & Hospitality Fund for Maui. A seat at the table is going for $250 per person; a seat at the Chefs’ Table is a bit more than that. Find out more from TAG Restaurant Group here

Wed., Nov. 8: Bourbon & Baubles @ State 38 Distilling

Location: State 38 Distilling – 400 Corporate Cir., Golden

Join State 38 Distilling and Saintly for an evening of Bourbon & Baubles, a jewelry workshop, and delicious cocktails, at State 38 Distilling. Samantha Chang from Saintly is leading this pearl-knotted bracelet workshop, which comes complete with two State 38 cocktails. At the end of the night, you’ll leave the awesome pearly bauble you’ve created. Find out more and get your $65 tickets here

Thurs., Nov. 9: Gift of Jazz Presents Sonya Walker Quintet @ The Lodge at Woods Boss Brewing

Location: Woods Boss Brewing Company – 2210 California St., Denver

The Gift of Jazz’s newest performance series—NextUp—brings some of the freshest jazz-influenced music to The Lodge’s stage at Woods Boss Brewing Company, a spot known for its live music, open mic nights, special performances, and fun crowds. This week, pianist Sonya Walker is on the ticket, and the Boulder native will be joined by Aleks Girshevich on drums, Nate Miller on trumpet, Adam Gang on saxophone, and Michael Rinko on bass. Tickets are $20 and doors open at 6:30 p.m. 

Fri., Nov. 10: One Person’s Trash is Another Person’s Cheddar @ MCA Denver

Location: MCA Denver -1485 Delgany St., Denver

Part of the contemporary art museum’s super fun Black Sheep Fridays series of “sophisticated nonsense,” Trash Garlands & Cheese Boards is here to show you that one person’s trash is indeed another person’s cheddar. Meow Wolf Convergence Station’s wardrobe coordinator and creature designer Kate Major is leading the workshop, showing you how to reuse and repurpose everyday household trash to make festive and decorative holiday garlands—all while tasting some delicious cheese, of course. Tickets are $15–$20, and you can get yours from MCA Denver here.

Sat., Nov. 11: Pasta Like a Pro: Handmade Noodles @ Restaurant Olivia

Location: Restaurant Olivia – 290 S. Downing St, Denver

Learn the art of handmade pasta from Olivia’s co-owner, head chef, and pasta whisperer, Ty Leon. This is a hands-on class, be ready to roll up your sleeves and roll out the dough. Chef Ty will walk you through Olivia’s tried-and-true noodle recipes, sharing stories of his favorite ingredients and techniques, as well as instructions for cooking the perfect al dente dish. Bring your questions to this beginner-friendly class, and leave with your own batch of fresh pasta. The price ($125) includes a light snack and a jar of Olivia’s housemade pasta sauce. It’s the first pasta-making class from the restaurant, and it’s unsurprisingly sold out as of now, but you can join the waitlist via Tock and keep your fingers crossed. We wish you luck.

Sun., Nov. 12: Denver Film Festival Awards Brunch @ The Jacquard Hotel 

Location: The Jacquard – 222 Milwaukee St., Denver

The 46th annual Denver Film Fest is screening arthouse hits all around town this week, and Sunday’s brunch at The Jacquard is your chance to celebrate the best of the fest—while curing your Sunday scaries and hangovers with mimosas, bloodies, and brunch. The standby line begins one hour before the event begins at 11 a.m. in the Prada Ballroom. Find more details on the film festival on the org’s website here.
