With so many great events to celebrate this month, including Black History Month, Valentine’s Day, the Super Bowl, Lunar New Year, there’s one more reason to love February-Stout Month.

Not that stout is a new thing to the Mile High City. Denver’s beer production dates back to the 1870s gold rush, spearheading its ongoing status as one of the top beer cities in the United States. As we spotlight the bold and bitter flavored beer beloved by true beer enthusiasts, discover three breweries (plus a bonus bar) infusing comforting chocolate sweetness through the tap to help you endure the long winter nights.

Woods Boss Brewing Company

For those seeking to deviate from the ordinary and explore a diverse range of flavors, Woods Boss Brewing presents a line-up of “chocolate-y, fruit-forward, coffee, and cocktail-inspired flavors.” The Sakura Chocolate Cherry Stout is brewed with real chocolate and cherry puree to infuse the sweetness into every sip. But wait, there’s more. Also on tap for this month, find Hisolda Irish Coffee Cream Stout offers, creamy beverage of coffee stout and whiskey. 2210 California St, Denver, woodsbossbrewing.com

Holidaily Brewing Company, renowned for gluten-free craft beers, brings attention to the popular Riva Stout. This stout pays homage to a Bernese Mountain dog named after a Vail ski run, which in turn was named after a ridge captured in Italy during WWII. After that brief history lesson, you might find yourself wanting to savor a pour of this coffee and chocolate-forward beer from Golden or Denver Tech Center tasting rooms. 801 Brickyard Cir, Golden; 5370 Greenwood Plaza Blvd., Greenwood Village, holidailybrewing.com

FlyteCo Brewing

Enhance your stout with a view from the old airport lookout point at FlyteCo Tower, or, visit the original location in Berkeley where you can relax inside a plane-cum-tasting room. Tis’ the season for the brewing company’s Ski Plane Stout. Poured on draft, the beer boasts rich notes of roasted coffee and chocolate and remains true to the stout style with subtle hints of sweetness. 4499 W 38th Ave., Denver; 3120 Uinta St, Denver, flytecobeer.com

Hops & Pie

Can’t decide? Explore some of the nation’s finest stouts at Hops & Pie, a pizza joint with an amazing beer list. Come celebrate favorites like La Cumbre’s Malpais, Fremont’s Dark Star, Prairie Artisan Ales’s Bourbon Weekend, and Telluride’s Ski-in-Ski-Stout all month long. 3920 Tennyson St., Denver, hopsandpie.com
