Meatball Eatery and Libations

2024 has welcomed me with the 20/20 vision we were all hoping for four years ago. Yes, four years. I hope you’re also embracing the positive vibes, envisioning your goals and dreams with clarity to turn them into reality. One early revelation for me is discovering I have a comfort food. Despite never having claimed one before, here I am, weeks into the cold season, craving meatballs. If you share the desire for warm, deliciously seasoned, and sauced rolled ground meat, read on for recommendations. Whether you choose to order for delivery or brave the cold for some freshly ordered goodness, these restaurants have got you covered.

Oak at Fourteenth

1400 Pearl St, Boulder, CO 80302

“Oak at Fourteenth has begun rolling out its winter menu with items coming out over the next few weeks. The menu is anchored by stunning cuts of meat fired in OAK’s flagship wood-burning oven and prepared with Asian ingredients. the Michelin Guide recommended OAK has brought back its Meatball ($27), served over creamy polenta with tomato sauce, burrata and basil.”

Oliver’s Italian

4950 S Yosemite St F3, Greenwood Village, CO 80111

In less than three months, Oliver’s Italian has quickly become a favorite among diners in Greenwood Village. Amidst a variety of delectable Italian dishes that transport you to the cobblestone streets of Rome, their standout is the incredible Oliver Meatballs ($16). Served on a bed of polenta and topped with marinara, pecorino romano, and ricotta, this dish is a true delight.

Lou’s Italian Specialties

3357 N Downing St, Denver, CO 80205

For a classic Spaghetti & Meatballs ($17) experience, Lou’s presents a Hot Plate featuring four authentic Italian meatballs, complemented by Lou’s marinara, parmesan, and basil. If you crave some bread to accompany your comforting meal, they also offer the much-loved Meatball Parmesan Hot Sandwich, available in both half ($9) and full ($18) sizing options.

Pizza Republica

5375 Landmark Pl, Greenwood Village, CO 80111

The Republica Meatball holds such significance that it claims the top spot on the menu. Personally, if it were my choice, reading just that would be enough, as this generously sized appetizer alone is satisfying enough to serve as a meal, leaving me with a content and full belly. While their pizzas and accompanying salads are tempting options, the one thing you shouldn’t miss is indulging in the delightful experience of their meatball.

In my quest to uncover must-try dishes, our writer, Steph, stumbled upon a gem in Greenwood Village that literally revolves around the essence of its name – Meatball Eatery and Libations. Though I haven’t had the chance to visit yet, I’m intrigued by the diverse array of balls they offer. From the Meatball Charcuterie Platter to Fresh Mozzarella Balls, Crispy Chicken Fire Balls, House Balls, Balls & Bread, and 1/2 lb. Smash Balls – you get the point. Needless to say, a visit is on the agenda for the next time I crave some comfort.
