Baseball is back on Blake Street this Thursday as the Colorado Rockies kick off their home season at 2:10 p.m. against the Washington Nationals at Coors Field. So dust off your baseball caps, don your finest Rockies gear, and join us as we paint the town purple in honor of the start of baseball season and the return of spring—weather be damned.  Bundle up and batter up, Denver—it’s time to play ball.

Rockies Opening Day Patio Party @ Union Station

1701 Wynkoop St.

Step up to the plate at Denver Union Station, celebrating the 2023 Rockies baseball season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Snap a photo with Rockies stilt walkers, have a ball with Jenga and cornhole, and groove to Tropical Waffle’s beats. Swing by the Terminal Bar’s patio for frosty Milagro palomas and frosé, and savor Mercantile’s pop-up patio grill and bar, featuring burgers, brats, chips, Bloody Marys, mimosas, Guinnesses, and Montucky’s. Milk Box dishes up purple ice cream and boozy shakes, while Pig Train keeps you caffeinated, ready to slide into the day’s adventures.

Stoic & Genuine hits a home run with an extended Oyster Happy Hour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ultreia joins the patio party, knocking it out of the park with an Ibérico mini hot dog on a split-top bun, curtido relish, and caraway aioli ($6). Pair it with a pretty purple gin tonic, boasting a hue from butterfly pea flower-infused spirits ($11).

Citizen Rail Kimchi Hot Dog Cookout

1899 16th St. Mall

Pitch into the third-annual Kimchi Hot Dog Cookout on the patio at 16th and Wewatta. For $5, game-goers can enjoy a hot dog piled high with pickled cabbage and a side of chips. Wash it all down with a purple Fly Ball cocktail with Atost lavender-lemon, Wheatley vodka, and crème de violette.

Colorado Rockies Pre-Party @ McGregor Square

1901 Wazee St.

The early bird scores a home run at McGregor Square, the official pregame destination of the Colorado Rockies. Bars in the plaza open at 8 a.m. on Thursday, with the pregame show on a colossal 66-foot LED screen. Try the Rockies Grand Slam cocktail from Milepost Zero, also opening at 8 a.m. When the first pitch is thrown at 2:10 p.m., you’ll wonder if the roar of the crowd is coming from the speakers or the stadium just across the street. Keep the party going post-game with a DJ set by Myxotic & Johnnie Ireland from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Gameday on the Block @ Dairy Block

1800 Wazee

Don’t let work keep you on the bench; Dairy Block’s home opener party spans the weekend. Chef Michael Diaz de Leon of BRUTØ knocks it out of the park with wagyu sausage from soon-to-open Rugby Scott and homemade sauces. Head to the hot dog stands near Westbound & Down for a backyard BBQ vibe and Rockies-themed fun.

Grab a to-go Rockies Fizz from Deviation Destillion, a purple Margarita on the Rockies from Kachina Cantina, or check out the alley for baseball art, a Living Wall, and pop-up jewelry by Art of Left Field. Enjoy Poka Lola Social Club’s pop-up bar with drink specials, live music, and a 360-degree photo booth.

Opening Day Celebration @ Great Divide Brewing Co.

2201 Arapahoe St.

Swing by at 11 a.m. as the brewery taps its latest Beach Milk Project release: Six Block Walk, a Mexican lager brewed with salt and lime purée. On-site, a food truck will serve classic ballpark fare, offering a gourmet hot dog, lager, and chips for just $10.

In-N-Out Food Truck @ Mile High Spirits

2201 Lawrence St.

Score big as the legendary burger mobile parks at Mile High Spirits for your animal-style fix and a Mile High Spirits drink for $20. Only a limited number of door tickets will be available on the day, but you can snag presale tickets on Eventbrite.

Game Day Menu @ The OG

1600 20th St.

Just steps from Coors Field at the Rally Hotel’s lobby on McGregor Square, The OG serves up a game-day menu for home games. Swing by from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on evening game days for sharable plates, sandwiches, salads, and drinks at this baseball-themed hotspot.

Opening Day @ Slater’s 50/50

3600 Blake St.

Step up your game with the Violet Femme cocktail, made with Woody Creek purple gin, fresh lemon juice, lavender simple syrup, and topped with butterfly pea tea (butterfly tea is all the rage!). The Rockies Home Run shot features vodka, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and grape flavoring and is topped with Sprite, and served with a Pop Rocks rim.

Rockies Home Opener Rooftop Party @ Los Chingones

2463 Larimer St.

Take the party to the rooftop at Los Chingones, just a hop, skip and jump away from the field. Margaritas and baseball go together like peanuts and Cracker Jack, so hit a home run with the Dingerita, a purple Rockies-themed coin-style margarita. Enjoy ¡Venga! Mexican Lager and Mi Vida IPA on draft for $5, a $5 Dip Trio served in a Rockies helmet, and an $8 Double Play—a combo of drafts and dips. Feed your team with the Big League Platter—12 tacos, house guac, salsa, and Chingon queso for $60.
