Whether shopping for yourself or a beloved spirit fan, mark your calendar, it’s time for Bruce’s Annual Allocated Whiskey Event, taking place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2 at Bonnie Brae Liquor in Denver. For approximately 364 days straight, the team at Bonnie Brae collects allocated and rare bottles in anticipation of the holiday season. Whiskey fans won’t want to miss the exclusive event, which, like Christmas, only comes once a year.

To refresh, allocated whiskey is a limited-production bottle that distilleries or distributors do not release in large enough quantities to meet demand. Because of the scarcity and popularity, stores, bars, and distributors only receive a small, predetermined number of bottles to sell. So if you missed it the first time around, now is your chance to snag one.

Make sure to get in line early, the sale goes live at 4 p.m. sharp and concludes around 6 p.m. During the wait, enjoy yard games and purchase hot food right off the grill. It’s also a great time to nerd out with fellow whiskey connoisseurs. Once inside, sample drams of whiskey produced by Denver’s Locke + Co. Distilling, which will be pouring in the store.

Now the fine print. Make sure to go to the event page to get all the rules surrounding this event. For example, in order to purchase an allocated bottle, shoppers must also buy a local spirit (at least 750ml), a move meant to highlight Colorado’s amazing distilling scene. If you want to enter the raffle for one of the super rare bottles, you must be part of Bonnie Brae’s Frequent Shopper Program, and sign up before December 2. The event page also talks about parking and other etiquette rules needed to attend.

Now go forth, and shop for some of the best whiskey in the world. 785 S. University Blvd., Denver, bonniebraeliquor.com
