As an experienced food lover and die-hard sports fan, I am always on the hunt for a new place to grab a bite and watch the game with friends or my kids. When I first heard about The Sophomore opening on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado where the delicious Ash’ Kara occupied for many years. I knew I had to check it out and let me tell you, I was not disappointed.

Let’s Eat!

First off, let’s talk about the clever dishes they have created. The Sophomore offers a mix of classic bites and unique options that leave your taste buds dancing. One of my favorite things on the menu is the individual sliders. With 12 different options available, there is something for everyone. The brioche buns are always fresh and the gluten-free options make it accessible for everyone. But let’s talk about the one that really stood out to me – the LOBSTER SHACK ROLL. This butter-poached Maine lobster served on a pretzel bun is unlike anything I have ever tasted with lemon zest-scented mayo and celery bringing the flavors together perfectly.

The Sophomore also utilizes its traditional brick oven to make rustic daily-baked bread that will be guaranteed to be always fresh. The AVO TOAST is the perfect example of this with house-whipped avocado mousse, radish, citrus segments, cilantro, and country bread coming together for a tasty treat that won’t ruin your diet.

Now, let’s talk about the wings. Every game day needs a hot basket of wings and The Sophomore delivers with a variety of choices. My personal recommendation is the Ph.D. WINGS with a sweet & tangy Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce is the perfect balance of salt and sweetness that any wing lover would enjoy.

And for those of us who need to watch our calories (yes, even food lovers like me), The Sophomore offers an array of chop salads. The DETOX salad with quinoa, romaine, arugula, tomato, cucumber, toasted almonds, salted cashews, sunflower seeds, raisins, cranberries, and tahini dressing is a healthy option bursting with flavor.

But let’s be real, sometimes you just want a big ol’ burger. The GRAZER with a locally ranched Colorado lamb patty, mozzarella, fresh mint, charred red onions, iceberg lettuce, vine-ripe tomato, and Sophomore sauce is the perfect option. The flavors come together to create a unique burger that stands out from other options in the area.

Raise Your Class and Glass

The Sophomore offers a variety of draft cocktails, including the JUANITA-RITA with reposado tequila, light agave, freshly squeezed lime, and salt. And if you’re feeling really thirsty, a 40oz pitcher of JUANITA-RITA is available for $45. The craft cocktails, like the tasty cocktail called DAY DRINKING with vodka, fresh lime juice, and ginger syrup, are refreshing and perfectly balanced.

For those who prefer wine or prosecco, those options are also available. And for those who are being good and keeping it spirit-free, The Sophomore offers an array of non-alcoholic cocktails.

The Sophomore has something for everyone young and old. Whether you’re a food lover, sports fan, or college student, this restaurant is worth a visit. The unique menu items, comfortable atmosphere, and tasty drinks make it a great spot to watch the game with friends or enjoy a meal with family. So what are you waiting for? Head on over to Pearl Street and check out The Sophomore for yourself.
