Content Creator Role Description

The Opportunity

DiningOut is a food and restaurant media brand that celebrates local dining culture across multiple U.S. cities. We’re building a network of content creators in each of our markets to produce short-form video content featuring the best restaurants, bars, and food experiences in their city.

You don’t need to be an influencer. We’re hiring creators to produce content that DiningOut owns and publishes across our channels. You bring the camera skills and local knowledge; we handle the strategy, assignments, and distribution. And you get paid per video. 

What You’ll Do

• Visit assigned restaurants, bars, and food experiences in your city and shoot short-form video content (Reels, TikToks, Shorts)
• Create green screen article and roundup explainer videos
• Follow creative direction and brand guidelines provided by the DiningOut editorial team
• Capture a variety of content types: dish features, restaurant walk-throughs, behind-the-scenes, chef interviews, and event coverage
• Propose additional video ideas (only pre-approved concepts will be compensated)
• Deliver raw and edited files on schedule

Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need a massive following or a professional studio. What matters is that you can consistently create engaging, high-quality short-form video and that you genuinely love your city’s food scene.

Requirements

• Must be 18 or older
• Based in one of our current markets: Denver, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, NYC, or Phoenix
• A phone or camera that shoots high-quality video (4K capable preferred)
• Basic video editing skills (CapCut, InShot, or similar)
• Reliable transportation to get to restaurant locations
• Ability to meet deadlines and communicate clearly

Nice to Have

• Experience shooting food or restaurant content
• An eye for lighting, composition, and storytelling in short-form formats
• Active presence on TikTok or Instagram (any size following)
• Familiarity with trending audio, formats, and editing styles
• Knowledge of your local restaurant and food scene

Compensation & Structure

• This is a paid, per-video independent contractor role. You are compensated for every approved video.
• Video concepts and assignments are provided by the DiningOut editorial team.
• Volume is flexible. Assignments come as they’re available, and you can take on what works for your schedule.
• Expenses may be reimbursed when pre-approved by DiningOut (e.g., meals at assigned restaurants).
• Invoices are paid Net 30.

Content Ownership

All content created under this role is owned by DiningOut. This is a work-for-hire arrangement. We’re not licensing your posts or asking for usage rights on your personal content. The videos you create for us are ours to publish, edit, repurpose, and distribute across any platform or channel.

Selected creators will sign an Independent Contractor Content Creation Agreement before getting started.

How It Works

2. Review: Our team reviews applications on a rolling basis. If we think you’re a fit, we’ll reach out to schedule a quick intro call.
3. Test Assignment: Qualified applicants may receive a paid test assignment to see how we work together.
4. Onboard: Sign the contractor agreement, get access to brand guidelines and your first batch of assignments.
