Hatch chile season is heating up, Terry Black's is taking guests behind the scenes, and restaurants across Dallas are rolling out fresh reasons to dine out

Welcome to DiningOut’s Plate Full of News, your weekly serving of Dallas’ restaurant, bar, and culinary happenings. From buzzy openings and chef moves to can’t-miss events, menu debuts, and industry news, here’s everything you need to know about the city’s dining scene this week.

The 411

Shark Club Sports Bar & Grill debuts its second U.S. location on Friday, August 7 in Northlake (following the success of the first U.S. location in nearby Plano). The Canadian-based concept features a multi-level space with 40 TVs, two 20-foot media walls, an extensive menu of crowd-pleasing dishes, from Lone Star Chili Pie and crispy pork riblets to Indian-style butter chicken and Shark Burgers (don’t worry, they’re made with beef.)

DFW Restaurant Week returns for its milestone 30th year on Monday, August 10 running through Monday, September 7. If you can’t wait, reserve a table during the preview week, Thursday, August 6 to Sunday, August 9. Prices start at $29 for two-course brunch or lunch experiences, $49-$59 for three-course dinners, and the option to upgrade to Signature Experience Dinners for $99. More than 150 restaurants have joined the list and a portion of each meal benefits the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) and Lena Pope in Tarrant County. Since DFW Restaurant Week began, more than $14 million has been raised for charity.

Happenings

Eataly Dallas is hosting a special Eataly After Hours event on Friday, August 7 from 8 p.m. to midnight. Tickets to the 21-and-over event are $111.70 (including all taxes and fees) or $123.11 on the day-of. The multi-story, indoor-outdoor spaces will be transformed into a lavish party with unlimited bites, sips, live entertainment, DJs, karaoke, and plenty of air-conditioning inside.

Chef Tayo Ola brings his Nigeria-meets-Italy fare to town for a six-course dining experience, the Ebi-Ayo Supper Club. It will take place at Lo’ & Rosie Creative Studio in Oak Cliff on Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22. The meal is $250 (plus taxes and fees) per person, which can be booked via their website.

On the Menu

From now until Sunday, September 20th, Nobu Dallas is offering a six-course Summer Tasting Menu for $140 per person. Signature creations include a caviar taco, seafood ceviche, a chef-curated sushi selection, and a Japanese New York strip. Partake in the special menu anytime up to an hour before closing. Reservations are available via OpenTable.

Meridian Restaurant in the Village has several special menus planned for summer. Through Friday, August 28, Summer Fridays kickstart the weekend with $6 bottled beer, $8 wines and bubbles by the glass, $10 specialty cocktails, half-priced one-hitter snacks, and a $14 Buzzed & Age Burger, all accompanied by a live DJ from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Girl Dinner, happening Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 9 p.m. and on Fridays from 4:30 to 11 p.m., features $25 “girl dinners” including a martini, truffle fries, and two one-hitters. And, on Wednesday, August 12 Meridian’s popular Chef Collective Series continues with a one-night collab with executive chef Eduardo Osorio and chef Phillip Halff of Halff Culinaire. The first seating begins at 4:30 p.m. and the final seating is at 8 p.m. Make reservations via OpenTable.

Blue Goose Cantina is turning up the heat with the return of its 24th annual Hatch Chile Fest, running Tuesday, August 4 through September. The seasonal menu showcases New Mexico’s famed Hatch chiles in everything from Hatch guacamole, queso, and salsa to pulled chicken enchiladas, tamales, and even the spicy-sweet Hatch Island Margarita. Brunch fans can also get in on the fun with Hatch-infused huevos divorciados.

Easy Slider gives diners options beyond its signature mini burgers. On Sunday, August 9, enjoy Steak Night sponsored by Maker’s Mark and La Pulga Tequila, from 5 to 9 p.m. Then, on Sunday, August 23, chef Mike G. brings Peruvian food to the restaurant from 1 to 5 p.m. for an afternoon sponsored by El Cantinero.

Speaking of all things Hatch, all DFW Central Market locations will celebrate the 26th Annual Hatch Chile Fest from Tuesday, August 4 through Monday, August 24. Find spicy Hatch chiles in products throughout the store, from Hatch queso chicken mac and cheese casserole and Hatch crab cakes to Hatch sausage koalches and Hatch blue corn cookies.

Not to be outdone on the Hatch front, Burger Schmurger has debuted its August Burger of the Month: the Hatchback. The limited-time $12 creation features a double smashburger, roasted Hatch green chiles, white American cheese, roma tomatoes, red onion, butter lettuce, and roasted Hatch green chile sauce on a potato bun.

Delilah Dallas has launched a new Golden Hour happy hour every Tuesday through Sunday from 5 to 6 p.m. Enjoy half-off all signature cocktails, wine by the glass, and beer, plus $14 bites from a list that includes bacon sliders, tuna tartare, and their famous chicken tenders. Add on $3 oysters and Kaluga caviar service for even more indulgence.

Austin-based Terry Black’s Barbecue has debuted the Terry Black’s Experience at its Deep Ellum location. For $150, enjoy a one-hour, behind-the-scenes experience that gets you access to the pitmasters and smokers while learning about the family history and their secret to incredible Texas BBQ. It ends with a VIP meal at a reserved table where you’ll get a spread of Prime brisket, beef ribs, pork ribs, housemade sausage, smoked turkey, a selection of side dishes, your choice of dessert, plus one beverage (beer, wine or non-alcoholic). The Dallas, Southlake, and Plano locations of Truluck’s are offering a special TRU Summer of ’92 three-course menu, available any night, for $59. Choose from several starters (including lobster bisque and shrimp cocktail), multiple entrees (including sesame-seared tuna and Ora King Salmon), and four desserts (including a mini version of their signature chocolate malt cake). Add on bottles of wine or bubbles starting at $48.
