October will go down in Dallas history as the month of the steakhouse and expansion.

Two distinct concepts joined Dallas’ sprawling steakhouse scene, but the real growth happened in the suburbs. Dallas concepts have not-so-quietly begun creeping up north, and they’re not the only ones. Ahead of the holidays, an international eatertainment venue has found a North Texas home, while a Houston-born concept has pulled back the curtain on a new Design District destination.

Here are six of the month’s hottest openings.

Juliet

Juliet Dallas made a cinematic entrance in the Design District on October 1. The Houston transplant rolls out the red carpet from the moment guests pull up to the curb. The swanky steakhouse taps into Old Hollywood Glamour with marquee lights and a hostess area filled with iconic movie posters and concession stand props. The dining room, too, is fit for an A-lister, right down to the menu. Standouts include prime steaks, sushi rolls, and seafood-loaded pastas. The Golden Eye roll steals the show with king crab, Wagyu, caviar, and a showy crab butter candle. 1400 Hi Line Dr., Ste. 115, Dallas, julietsteakhouse.com

Docent Steak arrived in the Harwood District on October 1 with two stories that blur the lines between museum and steakhouse. The new arrival is adorned with more than 100 pieces of samurai and cattle artwork from the private Barbier-Mueller Collection. The exclusivity extends beyond aesthetics to the menu, with meat sourced from Harwood Premium Beef, Harwood Hospitality Group’s proprietary Akaushi beef program. The protein options are lavish, with prime beef, Texas Wagyu, and imported Wagyu, but don’t skip the spicy tuna tartare topped with togarashi cotton candy that melts with a peanut ponzu drizzle. 2806 Harry Hines Blvd., Dallas, docentsteak.com

Arizona-based Fox Restaurant Concepts, the team behind Flower Child and Culinary Dropout, has taken The Henry to the suburbs. The Henry opened on October 21 at Legacy West in Plano, marking its second DFW location and the first outside of Dallas. The nearly 13,000-square-foot all-day restaurant boasts a 2,233-square-foot wraparound patio, full-service coffee bar, and open kitchen. The menu satisfies just about any craving, with avocado toast, egg sandwiches, Wagyu cheeseburgers, short rib potstickers, pressed yellowtail sushi, bolognese, filet mignon, banana-sticky date pudding. 7700 Windrose Ave., Ste. West Village has been having a major glow-up. Its newest addition is SusieCakes, which opened October 3. The new outpost marks the brand’s seventh location and fourth locally, bringing made-from-scratch cakes to the Uptown district using founder Susan Sarich’s grandmother’s handwritten recipes. The wholesome cakes include its signature Vanilla Celebration cake, Southern Red Velvet, and Old Fashioned chocolate. The bakery also features cookies and cupcakes. 3699 McKinney Ave., Ste. 318, Dallas, susiecakes.com

Flight Club, a London-born darts experience, opened its second Texas location on October 23 at Village on the Parkway in Addison. Flight Club taps Victorian fairgrounds design with local nods. There are 12 semiprivate gaming areas, called oches, that fit up to 12 players each. The international arrival reimagines the classic pub game with a tech upgrade that automatically scores the game, giving players less time to worry about math and more time to enjoy the chef-driven menu of sharables, draft beers, and signature cocktails. 5100 Belt Line Rd., Ste. 776, Addison, flightclubdartsusa.com

The Imperial Room

The pizza connoisseurs behind Cane Rosso, Zoli’s Pizza, and Thunderbird Pies have unveiled their first cocktail lounge, The Imperial Room. The concept opened October 16 at The Star in Frisco, transforming the former family-friendly Cow Tipping Creamery into an adults-only, New York-style cocktail bar. The beverage program comes courtesy of Gabe Sanchez, the master mixologist behind some of Dallas’ most beloved bars, including the Black Swan Saloon. Cocktails include Always Sunny in Frisco and the Imperial Gin Freezer Martini. Executive chef Mat Urban compliments with a sophisticated menu that has all the makings of an unparalleled girl dinner. 3685 The Star Blvd., Ste. 200, Frisco, imperialroomfrisco.com
