Baseball is back on Blake Street this Thursday as the Colorado Rockies kick off their home season at 2:10 p.m. against the Washington Nationals at Coors Field. So dust off your baseball caps, don your finest Rockies gear, and join us as we paint the town purple in honor of the start of baseball season and the return of spring—weather be damned.  Bundle up and batter up, Denver—it’s time to play ball.

@denverunionstation

Step up to the plate at Denver Union Station, celebrating the 2023 Rockies baseball season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Snap a photo with Rockies stilt walkers, have a ball with Jenga and cornhole, and groove to Tropical Waffle’s beats. Swing by the Terminal Bar’s patio for frosty Milagro palomas and frosé, and savor Mercantile’s pop-up patio grill and bar, featuring burgers, brats, chips, Bloody Marys, mimosas, Guinnesses, and Montucky’s. Milk Box dishes up purple ice cream and boozy shakes, while Pig Train keeps you caffeinated, ready to slide into the day’s adventures.

Stoic & Genuine hits a home run with an extended Oyster Happy Hour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ultreia joins the patio party, knocking it out of the park with an Ibérico mini hot dog on a split-top bun, curtido relish, and caraway aioli ($6). Pair it with a pretty purple gin tonic, boasting a hue from butterfly pea flower-infused spirits ($11).

The early bird scores a home run at McGregor Square, the official pregame destination of the Colorado Rockies. Bars in the plaza open at 8 a.m. on Thursday, with the pregame show on a colossal 66-foot LED screen. Try the Rockies Grand Slam cocktail from Milepost Zero, also opening at 8 a.m. When the first pitch is thrown at 2:10 p.m., you’ll wonder if the roar of the crowd is coming from the speakers or the stadium just across the street. Keep the party going post-game with a DJ set by Myxotic & Johnnie Ireland from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Gameday on the Block @ Dairy Block

1800 Wazee

@dairyblock

Don’t let work keep you on the bench; Dairy Block’s home opener party spans the weekend. Chef Michael Diaz de Leon of BRUTØ knocks it out of the park with wagyu sausage from soon-to-open Rugby Scott and homemade sauces. Head to the hot dog stands near Westbound & Down for a backyard BBQ vibe and Rockies-themed fun.

Grab a to-go Rockies Fizz from Deviation Destillion, a purple Margarita on the Rockies from Kachina Cantina, or check out the alley for baseball art, a Living Wall, and pop-up jewelry by Art of Left Field. Enjoy Poka Lola Social Club’s pop-up bar with drink specials, live music, and a 360-degree photo booth.
