Papi Steak, a popular Miami Beach restaurant frequented by celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio and Sofia Vergara, has grabbed attention with a lavish menu item called “It’s Not a Bag, It’s a Cocktail.” Priced at $33,000, the drink is served inside an Hermès Birkin bag, one of the most exclusive and sought-after accessories in the world. However, there’s a twist that has social media buzzing.

Content creator Mister Lewis shared a viral TikTok video on May 19, asking a Papi Steak server about the restaurant’s priciest drink. The server introduced the cocktail, which includes Belvedere 10 Vodka, grapefruit oil saccharum, Lillet Blanc, a peach garnish, and a side of caviar, all presented tableside in a bright orange Birkin bag. The $33,000 price tag raised eyebrows, but the restaurant later clarified that the actual cocktail costs just $150, and the Birkin bag is not included—it’s purely for show.

The cocktail is served with two glasses: one for the drink, poured tableside, and another for the caviar, which is presented over ice. According to a Papi Steak representative, the bag is “more art/inspiration,” and the drink is available anytime during service with no limit on orders.

The Hermès Birkin bag, often priced between $12,100 for a Birkin 25 in Togo leather and over $100,000 on the secondary market, is notoriously hard to obtain due to Hermès’ selective sales process, which typically favors loyal customers with a history of purchases. This exclusivity led some TikTok commenters to joke that the $33,000 cocktail might be “the easiest way to get a Birkin,” while others speculated it could be a clever way to snag a bag at a discount for resale.

However, skepticism abounded online. Some questioned whether the Birkin used in the presentation is authentic, with one commenter noting, “The bag in the video doesn’t have the Hermès logo.” Others suggested the restaurant might use a replica for the display, asking, “Why would they fill a real Birkin with drinks?”

David “Papi” Einhorn, co-owner of Papi Steak, told PEOPLE the concept was designed to create a unique experience, blending luxury with creativity. While the Birkin bag remains out of reach for cocktail buyers, the buzz around this extravagant presentation has certainly put Papi Steak in the spotlight.
