Mack Allen’s
Restaurateur Mack McDonald, known for his NOLA-inspired concept Rouxpour, just debuted this glamorous dining destination after a spectacular preview event filled with live entertainment and plenty of champagne. Located at the 5POP office tower between River Oaks and Uptown, the 16,000-square-foot space features a dramatic 50-seat bar just beyond the brass doors. Befitting its elegant interior, the menu offers prime steaks and fresh seafood alongside luxurious plates such as escargots with bone marrow and rack of lamb with foie gras fondue. There’s also a bountiful raw bar with sushi options, caviar service, and seafood towers. These decadent dishes can be accompanied by a fine bottle from the extensive wine collection or a dram of Mack Allen’s custom-bottled Eagle Rare Single Barrel bourbon. Parkwood American Grille
For residents a little south of the city, there’s an exciting new steak and seafood spot from Raz Halili delivering chef-driven American cuisine and Gulf seafood. Known for his waterfront San Leon restaurant, Pier 6, Halili also operates his family-owned Prestige Oysters, which means guests can enjoy high-quality raw oysters or plates like the grilled hot-blooded oysters. Though the menu leans stateside, there are dishes such as crab and caviar sushi rolls and sticky sambal chicken, along with a selection of steaks, including a reasonably priced wagyu New York strip. Long Point Social Club
Part pickleball venue, part social club, this modern take on a traditional country club opened in late August. Guests can take pickleball lessons, compete in tournaments, watch sports, or just hang out with their favorite pooch at the attached dog park. Whether you need fuel for a few rallies or a cold drink afterward, there’s a full kitchen and bar for grabbing refreshments. The menu offers munchies like pickleballs—fritters made with cream cheese and dill pickle—and a double-patty smashburger. Plus, there’s the daytime LP Cafe with specialty coffees and pastries. Tapestry at Ismaili Center
The Ismaili Center debuted in Houston in late 2025 as one of just seven Ismaili Centers in the world. Now, it boasts its own all-day cafe for visitors. The serene space reflects the stunning architecture of the cultural center itself, with a bright and sun-lit interior, as well as a green space for al fresco dining. The catering company behind the menu at Tapestry is Jackson & Company, a top luxury culinary group in Houston. Visitors can indulge in pastries like pistachio baklava croissants and cinnamon-cardamom scones, along with a variety of specialty coffees and teas. H & H Bagels
New York transplants often complain they can’t find decent pizza or bagels in Houston. A newly-opened bagel shop promises to fix the bagel situation with its New York-style varieties. The brand was born in New York City in 1972, but the Houston location is the first for Texas. The bagels are baked fresh, on-site daily, with high quality ingredients, then kettle-boiled in the famed New York City water. There are all kinds of cream cheese spreads available, including strawberry, spicy scallion, jalapeno, and veggie. Lox lovers are not left out, either.
