The suburbs often get a bad rap for dining, but Missouri City—just a 30-minute drive from Houston—is far more than chain restaurants and fast food. The food scene in this developing neighborhood is as diverse as its residents, with local spots that reflect the area’s rich mix of cultures and flavors. You’ll find a range of options and every type of cuisine—from halal barbecue, to Asian street food, and even a famed smashburger concept by a Houston hip hop icon.

These are 11 of the best restaurants to seek out in Missouri City.

Hong Kong Food Court

The sister concept to the popular Katy Asia Town spot, Hong Kong Food Street, opened late last year and was an immediate hit with those seeking comforting Cantonese-style street food. The restaurant is described as a take on the traditional Cha Chaan Teng—or an affordable and convenient Hong Kong style café.  The menu includes small street snacks such as salt and pepper chicken wings and curry fish balls, as well as larger dishes like Hainan chicken rice, beef chow fun, congee, and noodle soups. The traditional milk tea is a must order, as is the crowd favorite French toast. 4899 Hwy 6, Missouri City, hongkongfoodcourt.com

Houston rap legend—and the “Unofficial Mayor of Houston”—Bun B, with his partners, have opened a third brick-and-mortar location of his smash burger joint in Fort Bend Town Center II. A former resident of Mo City himself, Bun B saw the opportunity to open in a prime family friendly location where residents don’t have to go far to score his OG Burger made with double smashed beef patties, caramelized onions, pickles, American cheese, and signature Trill Sauce. Pair it with fries and an extra-large Trill Lemonade. 20220 Fort Bend Pkwy., Missouri City, trill-burgers.com

Mo City Eatz

Husband-and-wife team, Angela and Michael Burgess, are bringing a little bit of St. Louis to their adopted home. The family-run restaurant gives Texans a taste of some tried and true St. Louis dishes like toasted ravioli, fried Basa, and grilled Polish link. The extensive menu of comfort eats has something to satisfy every taste—from a dozen different burgers to wings with sauces like the Mo’ Slapp dry spice rub and peach glaze, which comes topped with warm peaches. Don’t skip house made desserts like apple pie egg rolls and banana pudding. 1021 Lake Olympia Pkwy., Missouri City, mocityeatz.com

The second location of this family-owned spot that originated in Cypress opened in Missouri City last year and was a hit with residents looking to stay close to home for great Vietnamese eats. The namesake Triple S Pho Combo comes with the usual cuts of beef that are requisite with a bowl of pho, and also arrives crowned with a bone-in short rib. While this is the showstopper dish, the restaurant has a full menu of classics such as rice plates, vermicelli bowls, banh mi, and signature dishes like mi quang (turmeric noodles) and banh beo (steamed rice cakes.) Each location also has rotating specials such as the birria pho which makes an appearance when the weather dips down. 9720 Hwy 6, Missouri City, triplesphogrill.com

Micheaux’s Southern Cuisine

George and Janice Micheaux have served as hospitality professionals in the area in some capacity or another since 1996, starting as a catering business. Since 2022, they have been serving stick-to-your-ribs soul food at Micheaux’s Southern Cuisine. The cafeteria style restaurant is casual and laid back—the perfect setting to dig into hearty Southern staples like smothered pork chops, baked turkey wings, fried chicken, and oxtails and rice. Sides, like  mac and cheese, collard greens and cabbage, and black-eyed peas almost steal the show, as do the scratch-made cakes and pies. 6850 Hwy 6, Missouri City, micheauxcatering.com

Sausage plates are served with sauerkraut and mustard, while pork schnitzel and chicken fried steak come with sides such as red cabbage or German potato salad.
