Beef prices have been climbing for the past few years, but in Texas, giving up beef is hardly an option. We love our smoked brisket, meaty burgers, and juicy steaks. Houston has no shortage of high-end steakhouses to satisfy those cravings, but plenty of restaurants and bars offer weekly steak night specials that make indulging a little easier on the wallet.

Consider this list a starting point for Houston carnivores. With different cuts, preparations, and settings to explore, you could make steak night a weekly ritual without ordering the same thing twice.

Inspired by Malcolm Lowry’s classic novel of the same name, this quirky cocktail bar in Rice Village offers Dios de Los Muertos vibes with live music, craft cocktails, and a legendary steak night. For two decades, the kitchen has been turning out a Monday steak night special with an option of a Certified Angus Choice ribeye or New York strip. The 16-ounce beauties are cooked to order and served with a salad, garlic mashed potatoes, and a side of Argentinian chimichurri sauce. The only catch is that a beverage purchase is required. Orders are made at the bar and there’s a lush vine-covered patio for those who want to dine al fresco. 2439 Bissonnet St., Houston, underthevolcanohouston.com

The Heights has no shortage of neighborhood bars, but this is the only one with a Friday steak night, courtesy of Amexicun, a pop-up grill that rotates through the week at bars like Plume and Axelrad. The cuts range from a $30 sirloin to a $125 shareable tomahawk, and steaks come with the chef’s choice of starch (most likely mashed potatoes) and a seasonal vegetable. The steaks get a blast from a kitchen torch to melt the butter on top. You can bring your pup on the patio, and maybe slip him or her a small piece of meat. 807 W. 19th St., Houston, almostfamoushtx.com
