Houstonians have yet another reason to flock to the bustling plaza at CITYCENTRE this summer, as husband-and-wife team, and Memorial residents, John and Carly Whitehurst announced they are opening the Board Room, a relaxed wine bar, cafe and retailer at 800 Sorella Court.

With an opening date set sometime between late July and early August, the all-day concept was consulted on by hospitality veteran, Scott Sulma of May I Speak Hospitality, and designed by Carly herself. The 2,000-square-foot space will feature a bar, indoor table seating, and a shaded patio, giving way for 70 guests to wine, dine, and shop. A palette of soft neutrals is accented with soft turquoise seats and dramatic shelving showcasing lush greenery and ample retail goods.

Keeping all-day operating hours, seven days a week, the Board Room will implement counter-service with grab-and-go options during the day, and transform into a spirited social setting with full table service by early evening.

By day, CITYCENTRE visitors and professionals will appreciate fresh options like the Thai peanut chicken wrap, a Southwest steak bowl, strawberry spinach salad, and a cranberry chicken salad sandwich—all priced under $15.

Those looking for sustenance after work, a collection of 80 to 100 wines sourced from around the globe, including approximately 20 by the glass, are sure to entice. A menu of spritzes, and a complete cocktail list will also be on offer.

Perhaps most exciting for snack fiends is the Board Room’s charcuterie offerings. Along with a signature sampler, themes include the crudite harvest, fruit, and a meat-lovers butcher’s board. Boards will be available in individual portions, but groups can spring for the bountiful Tower Board, large enough for six. Alternatively, pickier snackers can take full control and opt to build their own boards.

Guests need not make a meal out of cheese and wine, as the Board Room’s evening menu will have hearty mains like chicken piccata, seared redfish, and flatbreads like shaved prosciutto and fig.

While wining and dining is the natural draw, the Board Room will serve as retail space for artfully crafted charcuterie boards and other wares from local businesses. Family-owned purveyors like Margaret James & Co., Tommy’s Pimento Cheese, Dos Margaritas Salsa, Migaloo Chocolatier, and many more will stock their goods for guests to shop during their visit.

Come opening time, the Board Room will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and 11 a.m. to midnight on weekends. And guests can look forward to additional programming, including wine classes, tastings, and build-your-own-board and flower-arrangings workshops, soon to come.
