The Michelin Guide returned to Texas on Tuesday, October 28, hosting its second annual awards ceremony at the Wortham Theater in Houston. The highly anticipated event brought together some of the state’s most celebrated chefs, restaurateurs, media, and culinary enthusiasts for an evening honoring excellence in Texas dining.
Guests were welcomed with Franciacorta wines during a lively cocktail hour, mingling alongside the Michelin Man on the red carpet and noshing on passed hors d’oeuvres, caviar, and bites from Houston’s Rosie Cannonball before the ceremony. At promptly 7:30 p.m., attendees filled an auditorium as winners were announced.
In the way of Dallas and Fort Worth-area restaurants, few changes were made to the Guide from last year. Most notably, the city was honored with a new One Star restaurant, the recently opened Mamani, while Tatsu Dallas retained its star. Plus, a special distinction was given to Chas Martin, co-owner of Mister Charles, which earned the Michelin Exceptional Cocktails Award.
No new restaurants received a Bib Gourmand distinction, and only one Dallas restaurant was added to the Recommended list. Here is the breakdown of awards given to Dallas and Fort Worth-area restaurants this year:
