No flights required. This summer, Omni Las Colinas is transforming its lakeside pool into a tropical escape complete with rum cocktails in fresh coconuts, island fare, and luau-ready cabanas. The Irving hotel is one of 13 Omni properties participating in Tiki Social, an immersive tiki-inspired summer pop-up in partnership with acclaimed tiki historian Jeff “Beachbum” Berry.

“This year, we set out to reimagine the summer traditions our guests already love and elevate them into something even more memorable,” said Michael Innocentin, Chief Marketing Officer at Omni Hotels & Resorts. “With expanded family programming and immersive seasonal experiences across our portfolio, we’re creating moments that feel both nostalgic and new, designed to bring guests back year after year.”

Situated along Lake Carolyn, Omni Las Colinas is a tranquil retreat where business meets leisure. The Tiki Social pop-up experience makes it transportive. For the program, Omni Hotels collaborated with Berry, one of the most influential cocktail figures in modern tiki culture. The author and cocktail historian has spent decades researching, preserving, and penning seven books on tropical drinks recipes. He also owns Beachbum Berry’s Latitude 29 in New Orleans.

Luckily, North Texans don’t have to leave the state to enjoy Berry’s creations. A lineup of his deeply-researched cocktails and mocktails can be found at Omni Las Colinas’ the Lakehouse Waterfront Lounge.

Nine island-inspired cocktails and mocktails are featured in this year’s lineup, including three new additions. Returning favorite the Coconutty Islander combines Myers’s Platinum Rum, Coco Reál, Chinola passion fruit liqueur, coconut water, lime, and macadamia liqueur. It’s social media ready, arriving in a fresh coconut.

The Mai Tai Have Another begs for another round with two rums, orgeat, orange, and lime, while the Tropical Tease doubles down on agave with Casamigos Blanco tequila, Ilegal mezcal, raspberry, pineapple, and créme de cacao.

New this year is the Omni Zombie, a potent mix of three rums, pamplemousse liqueur, lime, cinnamon, and falernum. Kona Coasting is a caffeinated pick-me-up with WhistlePig 6-Year, Kona coffee liqueur, creme de banana, lemon, and pineapple.

Mocktails aren’t an afterthought. The Dry Tai features Berry’s own Beachbum Berry’s Latitude 29 Wiki Wiki Mai Tai mix, lime, and tonic water. The cheeky Designated Diver is bright with passion fruit, vanilla, citrus, soda water, and nonalcoholic Cuban bitters. Baby Blue Hawaii channels the crystalline waters of its namesake destination with a vibrant blend of spirit-free Blue Curacao, pineapple, lemon, coconut, and sparkling lemonade. Guests can make it boozy with a Ketel One Vodka upgrade.

Omni Las Colinas’ executive chef Po Liu dives into true tiki culture with a tropical-themed food menu too..

“With Tiki Social, we wanted the food menu to capture the spirit of summer while bringing something new to the table,” said Monica Hernandez, director of outlets at Omni Las Colinas. “Working alongside Omni’s executive culinary team, our executive chef crafted approachable yet unexpected dishes that blend bold island-inspired flavors with seasonal classics… while some items appear across Tiki Social locations, this menu is uniquely curated for Omni Las Colinas.”

Tiki wings glazed in rum, garlic, and pineapple are perfect for a poolside snack. The tiki platter is loaded with steamed coconut shrimp, veggie spring rolls, crispy wings, and teriyaki sauce. Pineapple and Spam fried rice is a standout, served in a hollowed pineapple, while the tuna poke bowl offers a lighter option.

Handhelds include turkey lettuce wraps, a double-patty tiki burger, the Lulu fish sandwich, the Huli-Huli chicken sandwich, and Las Colinas’ signature smashburger. Even kids get a taste of the islands with tiki sliders and coconut-crusted chicken tenders.

Desserts also get a tropic twist. The guava tres leches is decadent with cream cheese mousse and coconut crunch. Keep cool with the coconut island bowl, coconut sorbet topped with passion fruit sauce and lime zest. Ube flan rounds out the desserts.

Designed for up to seven, the enhancement features a shaded cabana with seating, TG, mini-fridge, safe, tropical fruit platter, coconut waters, a pitcher of the Totem’s Kiss cocktail, Hawaiian Sun drinks, and a Hawaiian lei.
