It’s no secret, Denver residents love their dogs, and many places love those canine friends right back. In fact, Rare Bird, the rooftop bar on top of Halcyon, a hotel in Cherry Creek, hosts a monthly and seasonal Bird Dog happy hour each month.
“Bird Dog was designed simply for dogs and their human companions to connect and enjoy a fun community experience,” said McClinton Heil, area managing director for Halcyon, a hotel in Cherry Creek. “Since we’re already a dog-friendly property, we wanted to treat the four-legged guests to handmade meals and specially flavored waters, including favorites like bacon, chicken and liver, while our human guests can enjoy cocktails, wine and beer with our delicious wood-fired offerings.”
The dog-friendly program started in 2024, and takes place on the hotel’s rooftop. It’s not just for fun either. Each Bird Dog event supports True Companions, a local Denver dog shelter and clinic, which also hosts adoption events at Rare Bird.
The next Bird Dog happy hour takes place on Tuesday, September 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. The last one of the season will be on October 27.
During the event, your furry friend can score a housemade peanut butter dog treat, puppy poke bowls (brown rice, salmon, veggies), or the Australian shepherd’s pie (potato, peas, carrots, beef patty). And for the humans, think wood-fired chicken wings, pizza, and tacos, plus craft cocktails and frozen drinks.
Year-round Halcyon, a hotel in Cherry Creek also remains open to furry friends. In fact, the hotel offers complimentary dog-friendly gear through the Gear Garage, and dog treats are available at the Kitchen Counter. Plus, with every $150 pet fee guests pay when bringing their dog, 10% is donated to support True Companions. Really, it’s a win-win for both the pets and their owners.
