Every four years the calendar adds an extra day in February, and it’s absolutely a reason to celebrate. Think of all you can eat, drink, cook, and enjoy on this glorious Thursday, February 29.

On a personal side, this leap year means celebrating by adding extra chocolate chips to the kids’ pancakes. Then going to Babe’s Tearoom with a friend for extra helpings of tea and treats. Finally, taco night with, what else, extra guac. Build your own perfect leap year, complete with freebies, deals and a whole lot of extra.

Celebrate a Leap Year Birthday

If you were born on February 29 soak up the birthday joy with freebies at a few choice locations. Flash your ID at any location of The Post Chicken & Beer and get a free pitcher of the house brew. Or, head to the Melting Pot in Littleton. Here, guests with a February 29 birthday get a free four-course meal when dining with a guest who also orders, and pays for, the same. All you need is identification to prove you’re a leap year baby.

Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar also serves up celebratory goodies for those sporting a leap year birthday. Each location will give out its proprietary CrackerJax oyster topped with crème fraiche, lemon, potato chip, caviar, and chive. For the 21-and-up crowd, starting at 11 a.m., Platt Park Brewing Company will let anyone keep the limited edition leap year glass designed by Nowhere Land Supply. If it happens to be your birthday too, get a brew on the house after purchasing the first.

Leap Into Savings

Head to Dairy Block‘s Denver Milk Market for leap year specials during an all-day happy hour. At the bar enjoy $7 Margaritas, Old Fashioneds, and glasses of house wine. Eat there too with deals such as cheese pizza for $10, $4 fish tacos, and $8 for a half-pound of wings.

For a sweet deal, High Point Creamery will offer the “Fill Your Stanley Cup” promotion. All you need is a clean 40-ounce Stanley cup. With that in tow, bring it to any of the ice cream shops locations, including the company’s sister concept Eiskaffee. Then pick four flavors and fill the cup for just $10.

Remember when we mentioned extra guac? At Chipotle, rewards members can score a free order of guacamole with the code EXTRA24, on February 29 only.

Hotel Night Deals

Get your online booking fingers ready to make a reservation on February 29 at the Halcyon, a hotel in Cherry Creek. If you’re one of the first 29, you’ll be entered to win a free night stay at the property during the chosen reservation. Bonus, the first 29 reservations all get a bottle of bubbly sent to the room during the stay.

At the Maven Hotel downtown, book a two-night stay and use the code LEAPYEARM to get 29-percent off. Only catch, you have to reserve by March 1, though it can be for future dates up to May 31, 2024. Bonus, those who actually camp out at the Maven on February 29 can take advantage of the other Dairy Block deals stated above.
