Early this week Side Pony released a new campaign, and this one is for the dogs, literally. Now each to-go cup at the day-night cafe features a picture of a dog in need of a good home, complete with a QR code letting people find out more information about said pup.
“We will consistently be putting shelter dogs on our cups and each week they will change,” said Side Pony co-owner Angela Neri. “Adopt, adopt, adopt!”
The brains behind the stickers is Jen Sevcik and Tim Samp, co-owners of Side Pony and founders of Duality Fitness next door. They are also big supporters of A Friend of Jack Rescue, a foster-based animal shelter and non-profit run by Allie Bradshaw. Over the years they personally have fostered around 500 animals.
“We are deeply rooted with A Friend of Jack and other local rescues,” said Sevcik on the phone. “We don’t have children so we opened a ton of businesses and foster a ton of dogs.”
To create the stickers, the couple bought a heavy duty, state-of-art vinyl sticker machine. When it came, said Sevcik, it was the size of a love seat and took three guys to move it. From there the two learned to use it, create QR codes, and connect their information to the rescue’s website.
The plan is to showcase 20 dogs every week, and rotate them out as dogs get adopted and new pups come in. Based on drink sales, Sevcik said they plan to create about 1,000 stickers each week.
“Everyone loves dogs, Colorado loves dogs, and it brings people together,” she added. “If it drives more people to Side Pony to see who is one their cup, and maybe find a new friend, it’s a job well done.”
