For the fourth year in a row you can dine out to support Ukraine thanks to the non-profit Sunflower Seeds Ukraine. Fill your belly and your soul by going out to select restaurants on Thursday, July 24, all day long.

This year around 50 venues from across the Front Range are participating, each giving five- to 10-percent of its sales to the organization. Best part, you can make a day of it by going out for coffee, lunch, and dinner, and planning the day so you can see all parts of the city.

Head to Boulder for Spanish tapas at Cafe Aion. Then visit Blackbelly Market & Restaurant for the main course with a stop at Glacier Ice Cream for dessert. Maybe you want to pick up some bread from Moxie Bread Co. to take home, and then have lunch at Tangerine. Or grab a cup of coffee at Stylus & Crate in Wheat Ridge.

Other thoughts: The Burns Pub & Restaurant in Broomfield offers English fare in a laid back atmosphere. A visit to The Golden Mill food hall gives everyone a chance to eat what they want and donate. In Longmont Jefe’s Taco’s & Tequila has you feeling good in more ways than one, and you can follow up your margaritas with a beer at Mestizo Brew Cantina in Wheat Ridge.

Need to keep it simple? Grab a craft beer and burger at New Image Brewing Company in Arvada and enjoy not just the experience, but the fact you’re helping too. Every location of Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar is donating to the cause, and it’s the perfect excuse to get a dozen oysters and cold martini. And fried chicken fans can revel in buckets of The Post’s famous bird, and each location is donating. Really there are no wrong answers on how to enjoy and support Sunflower Seeds Ukraine, and a complete list of participating restaurants can be found here

As for the cause, for the past few years Sunflower Seeds Ukraine has donated thousands of supplies to war-torn Ukraine, outfitting Armed Forces of Ukraine, Territorial Defense Forces, and other units with protective gear, warm clothing, and first aid kits. It’s also donated to civilians, be that villagers rebuilding after a flood, camp and schools for kids, and even food, shelter, and medical attention for the displaced pets.

Currently the organization sends four packed shipping containers each year. Volunteers come to help the organizers stock it up, and the next big movement is on July 19. Find out more information about Sunflower Seeds Ukraine here, and discover other ways to get involved.
