Houston-grown Landry’s has officially planted its flag in Sugar Land. Landry’s Seafood House opened Monday, August 24, at 19740 Southwest Freeway, bringing the homegrown hospitality giant’s longtime seafood concept to a busy stretch of U.S. 59 near First Colony and Sugar Land Town Square.
For Houstonians, Landry’s hardly needs an introduction. The company has deep roots in the region, and its seafood restaurants have long been associated with Gulf Coast fare and Louisiana flavors. The Sugar Land opening brings that formula farther southwest while giving the longtime concept a refreshed look and a few features created specifically for its new neighborhood.
Inside, the restaurant plays up its New Orleans influence with emerald tones, warm amber accents, and brass details inspired by the French Quarter. Families also get something they won’t find at every Landry’s: an on-site playground, a particularly handy addition for parents hoping to linger over dinner while the kids burn off some energy.
“We’re proud to bring our Cajun and French Quarter roots to Sugar Land with a vibrant atmosphere and refreshed dining experience,” Shah Ghani, COO of Landry’s Seafood House, said in a statement. “This new location represents everything guests love about Landry’s, and we are excited to introduce the warm hospitality, fresh flavors, and memorable dining experiences that our Landry’s is known for to the community.”
The menu should look familiar to longtime Landry’s diners, with fresh fish, shrimp, oysters, and steaks making up much of the lineup. But Sugar Land gets a few additions of its own, including fried alligator, crab, spinach and artichoke-stuffed chicken, the Landry’s Smashburger, and a daily fish sandwich featuring the catch of the day.
There’s also a full-service bar, with weekday happy hour running Monday through Friday from 3 to 6:30 p.m., plus private dining and catering for celebrations and corporate gatherings.
The new restaurant puts Landry’s within easy reach of Sugar Land residents as well as diners coming from nearby Stafford, Missouri City, and southwest Houston. Its location along the Southwest Freeway also places it near some of the area’s busiest destinations, including First Colony Mall and Smart Financial Centre.
Landry’s Seafood House Sugar Land is now open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. With seafood, cocktails, and a playground all under one roof, the longtime Houston name appears ready to make itself at home in the suburbs.
