Welcome to DiningOut’s Plate Full of News, where you’ll get a plateful of restaurant, bar, and chefs happenings each week.

The 411

Katz Deli announced it will open its fifth Houston-area location at 10321-A Katy Freeway within MetroNational’s mixed-use development at Memorial City. The New York-style eatery famously operates around the clock, making it a worthy addition to the area, specifically for employees of the Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center who seek 24-hour options. Construction for the newest outpost is set to begin early next year, with its opening slated for early 2026.

Chris Shepherd’s Table to Stage series has a new home at the House of Blues Music Hall at GreenStreet. In its next installment, Shepherd will be joined by Top Chef’s Tom Colicchio on Sunday, November 17 from 6 to 8 p.m., during which time the duo will discuss the television personality’s culinary journey, his role on Top Chef, and new book Why I Cook.

On the Menu

Mutiny Wine Room is ringing in the fall season with an array of new dishes from chef Eduardo Alcayaga. The fall menu highlights the bounty of the season with dishes like baked pastry-wrapped brie with spiced pear compote and house-made rye sourdough; Patagonian grilled shrimp with sweet roasted shishito pepper sauce, toasted nori, and micro purple shiso; and smoked duck breast with an orange and plum glaze and ginger stir-fried rice.
