It’s July and it’s hot—in more ways than one. This week there are a bounty of dining events happening, from a traditional Georgian feast to a family-friendly food festival to some Bastille Day events.

July 8 to 18: Red, White & Blue Tea
The Peninsula New York is offering a star-spangled tea service to commemorate the 250th birthday of the United States. Starting now until July 18, point yourself to the hotel to partake in Stars & Stripes Afternoon Tea, featuring American-inspired bites, such as a Mini Lobster Roll, Saffron Egg Salad, and Red Velvet Cake, among other morsels. The afternoon tea service is from 3 to 6 p.m. and costs $115 per person.
July 9: All About Tequila
Do you like tequila but always had the sneaking suspicion that you didn’t know enough about it? Now you can learn everything you ever wanted to know about tequila but were afraid to ask. Head on over The Cabinet, the East Village tequila and mezcal bar, for a free class on the diverse wonders of tequila. You’ll even get a complimentary cocktail. July 10: An Italian-Accented West Village Dinner Party
L’Artusi is throwing a dinner party and you’re invited. Come to this popular West Village Italian restaurant on Friday, July 10 at 6:30 p.m. where you’ll be seated at a communal table. Sip some wine and chat with your new dining companions while a procession of family-style dishes materializes at the table. The menu is focused on some of L’Artusi’s greatest hits. July 10 and 11: Sip, Guzzle, Repeat
The Theodora Beach Club continues into the summer on Govenor’s Island. Next up: Lana Lagomarsini of Sip & Guzzle, the number one bar in North America, will be shaking and stirring up sensational drinks while cooking over a live fire. The seated, multi-course dinner costs $270 per person and starts at 7 p.m.
July 11: We Are Family
Starting at noon on Saturday, the Family-Style Food Festival kicks off. For eight hours it will be all things family and food at Pier 36. Over 30 restaurants will be there, including Chama Mama, Charles Pan-Fried Chicken, Fish Cheeks, Lucali, Potluck Club, and Taqueria Ramirez, among others. General admission tickets are $30.
July 12: Sunday Service
The new Vietnamese cafe and cocktail bar, After Eden, invites you to its once-a-month Sunday Service, celebrating New York’s food and beverage community. This month the guest is Bukas Cafe, a Filipino eatery in Queens. Expect dishes and drinks to highlight both Filipino and Vietnamese flavors and styles. DJs will be spinning the soundtrack and guests can turn up at the Lower East Side restaurant anytime between noon and 6 p.m., or make a reservation here.
July 12 and 26: Georgia on My Mind
If you’ve never experienced a traditional Georgian feast, Laliko in the West Village is giving you the opportunity. On July 12 and 26, head to this sleek spot to be one of 12 people seated at a communal table. Here the wine flows liberally and traditional Georgian staples get gobbled up. For $125 each, guests will enjoy a family-style meal complete with khachapuri, khinkali dumplings, and roasted suckling pig, among other delights. Book your place here.
July 13: After Eden & Yingtao Want to Play Mahjong with You
The celebrated Chinese restaurant, Yingtao, and the Vietnamese-accented all-day cafe and cocktail bar, After Eden, are bringing together restaurant industry folks, creative professionals, and friends at Yingtao in Hell’s Kitchen on July 13 from 6 to 10 p.m. to drink, eat, be merry, and play mahjong.

July 13: Cheers to Lager
Put some hop—as in beer hops—into your Monday evening. On July 13, from 6 to 9 p.m., head to Eckhart Beer Co. in Bushwick, Brooklyn to attend the monthly Shop Talk series. On deck for July 13 is the art and science of brewing lager with Jack Hendler of Hendler Family Brew Co. and Tom Neilsen of Emberside Brewing. The cost is $15 per person. July 14: From Pâté to Poule
Chef Alain Ducasse’s Midtown bistro, Benoit, is going all in for Bastille Day this year. On Monday, July 14, a live DJ will be spinning Gallic tunes and there will be special menu offerings that day, such as pâté en croûte, poulet rôti, escargots, and profiteroles. Reserve a place on OpenTable.
July 14: Say ‘Ciao’ to Sicily
Sicily is coming to SoHo—specifically on Tuesday, July 14 at Il Buco Alimentari e Vineria. Book a table at any time in the evening for a lovely five-course Sicilian meal paired with wine from Sicily. The cost of the meal is $110, plus $55 more if you want wine pairing. Get your seat here.
July 14: Storm the Bastille … in Tribeca
You need not be in Paris to celebrate one of the biggest French holidays of the year. At L’Abeille, the renowned French restaurant with a slight Japanese accent in Tribeca, will be bringing on Andrea Calsteir, the chef of Michelin-starred La Bastide in Westchester County. Come into L’Abeille on July 14 to sample Andrea Calstier’s Provencal-inspired menu with a slight Hudson Valley twist. July 20 to August 16: Summer Restaurant Week
It’s every food-lover’s favorite time of summer: Restaurant Week is back. Participating restaurants will be offering two- and three-course meals for $30, $45, and $60.
