Two fires wreaked havoc last week, and not in a good way. In positive news, a beloved Italian spot celebrates 10 years with a special dinner, and Boulder starts chatting about tipping laws. Have something to share? Send us a note via Instagram or by emailing info@diningout.com.

The 411

Happy Anniversary Coperta!

For 10 years chef Paul C. Reilly’s Italian spot has served the Uptown neighborhood, and here’s to 10 more years! The chef opened Coperta in July, 2016 with his sister Aileen V. Reilly and her husband, JP Taylor, Jr. To celebrate the milestone, the team will offer a $55, four-course menu featuring the restaurant’s most iconic dishes. Book your spot now, it only runs from July 23  to 25.

A fire devastated a local farm that not only is a spring staple at our farmers’ markets, but caters to some of Denver’s best restaurants. Read about Kiowa Valley Organics and what you can do to help.

Yet Another Fire

We were told fire danger would be high this summer, but it feels extra bad for restaurants. Now Sherpa Base Camp (formally Curry & Grill 2) in Uptown has closed because of a fire on July 15. Luckily no one was hurt and the damage minimal (as far as we know). But it will remain shuttered until proper maintenance and an investigation can take place.

No other restaurants or buildings suffered extensive damage either, though next door neighbor Hamburger Mary’s said the patio got singed and it lost power for a short period of time.

Best BBQ Sauce?

Missing Sign

Boombots Pasta lost its sign last week. But, as a social media post states, “Also, have you seen how cute our patio is? We’re Choosing joy. The pasta’s [sic] still stupid good, the vibes are right, and if any welders wanna slide into our DMs and be a legend, now’s your moment.”

Ash & Agave in Cherry Creek officially opened its Bottomless Brunch Bubbles service on the weekends. Served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the service costs $20 a person and runs for 90 minutes. Choose from classic orange, pineapple mango, or guava sunrise, and pair with one of the tasty dishes such as Chilaquiles with rotisserie chicken or the Puerto Vallarta Scramble with lobster, shrimp, poblano hollandaise, rice and beans.

Need some dining out recommendations? Try these three hot spots, and make sure to check out the week’s events

Tuesday: After chatting with chef Kenny Minton III of Coperta about Kiowa Valley Organic farm and learning about the anniversary celebration, I’m craving the Pollo alla Diavola, which has been on the menu since the restaurant opened in 2016.

Wednesday: Writer Ruth Tobias dived into the history of Micky’s Top Sirloin last week, and we are so there. Not sure what will be on tonight’s specials board, but when in doubt, the Hawaiian steak is a favorite.

Friday: I’m finally getting over to Mother Other, the new restaurant by the Easy Vegan team. I can’t wait! Ping me if you have recommendations.
