One of Houston’s most celebrated restaurant success stories is heading west. After 25 years at its flagship Southwest Houston location, Aga’s Restaurant & Catering is expanding to Katy with its first new outpost, a dedicated takeout concept opening June 24.

Set to open at The Shoppes at Grand Crossing near Interstate 10 and the Grand Parkway, Aga’s To Go marks a major milestone for the family-owned business, which has grown into one of the most acclaimed South Asian dining destinations in North America. The opening also signals the beginning of a broader expansion strategy, with a second takeout-focused location already planned for early next year.

For many Houstonians, Aga’s needs little introduction. Since the Maredia family acquired the restaurant in 2010, the business has undergone a remarkable transformation, evolving into a bustling 16,200-square-foot dining destination that serves thousands of guests daily. Along the way, it has earned a loyal following that stretches far beyond southwest Houston, attracting diners from across the region who routinely make the drive for its sizzling lamb chops, kababs, and curries.

That popularity has translated into national recognition. Aga’s has appeared on Yelp’s annual Top 100 Restaurants list, earned praise from The New York Times, and was recently highlighted by Food & Wine as part of its coverage of Houston’s emergence as one of America’s most exciting food cities.

Beyond its culinary reputation, Aga’s is lauded for its community involvement. The company is in its fifth year of awarding scholarships to graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education and recently distributed $100,000 to 25 students across the Houston area, including several from Katy, a reflection of the community ties that have helped fuel the restaurant’s growth across the region.

The new Katy location is a direct response to years of demand from customers in west Houston, according to Zain Maredia, the company’s head of growth and strategy. Rather than replicating the flagship restaurant, Aga’s To Go was designed as a streamlined, 4,300-square-foot operation focused on takeout and delivery. The menu has been condensed to 108 items but retains many of the beloved dishes that helped define the brand.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received over the years,” Maredia said. “Houston has embraced our food, our family, and our story. Food has a unique way of bringing people together, and we’re excited to continue sharing that experience with even more guests through our new Katy location.”

The expansion comes as Katy continues to experience rapid residential and commercial growth, making it a logical next step for a restaurant whose customer base has increasingly extended westward. For a brand that spent 25 years building its reputation from a single Houston location, the Katy opening marks the beginning of a new era.

Starting Wednesday, June 24, the restaurant will be open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with delivery available through Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub.
