It’s no secret Denver loves brunch. Each Friday we’ll divulge the newest and best brunches around. Not only do we highlight our favorite spots for all your brunching needs, but also add lists of things you crave. So pour a mimosa, grab a cup of coffee, and get ready to eat.

Heading off the beaten path, this week we dived into Eat! Food & Drink, a five-year-old brunch spot open every day in Broomfield. The casual American restaurant opened in 2019, owned by David Frieder.

While his name might not ring a bell, if you’re a breakfast person chances are the name Breakfast Inn does. Located at 6135 E. Evans Ave. in Denver, the Breakfast Inn has served classic diner-style meals since 1976. Frieder bought the restaurant in 2009, keeping the old-school diner and its menu  intact.

But back to Eat! If you can manage to have breakfast on a weekday or early in the morning, it’s recommended. The wait for two people to get in during Saturday around 10:30 took about 45 minutes, which of course made us even hungrier. Plan ahead to get a reservation, an asset not often found at popular brunch spots. Either way, it’s a great place to spend a weekend morning, or early afternoon.

Eat the Menu

Though more modern in setting and vibe, the menu leans toward the diner side with some funky options. Think gluten-free Belgian waffles ($15) with cinnamon ice cream, cinnamon sugar, caramel drizzle, candied bacon, and luscious crème brulée and chocolate sauce. Or, the PB&J Burger ($18), a half-pound burger spiked with crunchy peanut butter and house-made raspberry-jalapeno jam. The show-stopping Jumbo Cinnamon Roll ($11), which we just included a round up, also hits the spot.

Moving on, Benedicts are a specialty of the house, with five options all ranging around $16. The honey-smoked salmon version combines the joy of lox with the richness of hollandaise, two ingredients not often married. The Harvest Benedict also stands out with a pile of produce including spinach, mushroom, and roasted red pepper, served on a grilled ciabatta roll. All Benedicts come with hash browns, and have the option to be made gluten free.

The build-your-own egg scramble is another thing Eat! is known for, all for $16. Ingredients range from French ham to goat cheese to arugula, and diners can pick four. Of course you can add on extras for $1 each if desired. Don’t worry if you’re not feeling creative, standard menu scrambles include the Kale Scramble with sautéed baby kale, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and goat cheese. Or go caveman with the Nice To Meat You Scramble featuring bacon, sausage, chorizo and cheddar jack cheese. All dishes come with hash browns and toast.

Drink Up

Mimosas, or in Eat!’s case, Mmmosas, run $9 each and come with your choice of juices including orange, peach, passion fruit, guava, mango, blood orange, pineapple, grapefruit, cranberry, and pomegranate, with Paul Chevalier Blanc de Blanc Champagne as the base. Go all out and order bottomless for $25, though keep in mind this perk has a 90-minute run time.

The Bloody Mary bar also impresses with around eight options. Drink your brunch with the Everything Bagel Bloody ($15), which comes with Breckenridge Vodka, everything bagel Bloody Mary Mix, and an epic garnish consisting of bacon, sausage, and a mini everything bagel. On the lighter side, the Smoked Habanero Michelada ($9) combines a cold lager with house-made, smoked-habanero Bloody Mary mix.

Don’t pass up the boozy coffee drinks either. The Blondie ($9) is a sweet morning cup filled with vanilla vodka, caramel vodka, and bourbon cream. Of course you can get your Dazbog coffee liquor-free too ($4). The non-alcoholic drink menu also includes iced teas ($3), fresh juices ($3), lattes ($5 to $6), and a delightful White Peach Palmer ($5), Eat!’s take on the classic golfing refresher.

Don’t Miss

Honestly, it’s hard to pass up chile rellenos, even for breakfast. So, I didn’t fight it and ordered the plate ($17), which came with eggs, guacamole, hash browns, and a tortilla on the side. It’s always a gamble to get chile rellenos from a non-Mexican restaurant, and even then they aren’t always good. However, Eat! managed a perfectly pleasing plate, with the outer crunch of the relleno delightful and the middle gooey with cheese. The not-so-spicy pork green chile was a nice touch as well. Add on a chorizo patty, braised short rib, or chicken sausage patty for $3 to enhance the meal, though it’s not necessary.

Visti Eat! Food & Drink Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; and Friday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 520 Zang St., Broomfield, eatateat.com
