Get ready New York, news is a couple new chefs have rolled into town, and one downtown cocktail bar is now hosting jazz nights. On the menu you’ll find a taste of the Hamptons in Tribeca and a whole menu dedicated to wagyu. Plus, the James Beard Awards!

A New Chef for Twin Falls

Twin Tails, the lively Southeast Asian restaurant at Columbus Circle, has a new chef. Let’s welcome  Aditya “Adi” Kangutkar to the kitchen. Chef Kangutkar has logged time at Fish Cheeks and Thai Diner. New menu items the chef brings to the restaurant include a tableside green papaya and kumquat salad and mushroom Bánh Cuốn Rice Rolls, among others.

Jazz Nights at Saaqi

Saaqi, the chic new cocktail bar below stylish Indian eatery Musaafer, has begun Wednesday night jazz sessions. Head down to this stylish spot each week to hear live music between 6 and 9 p.m.

Jason Neroni has been named chef at Caffe Tusk, Tusk Bar. and BRASS. Neroni has worked in some impressive kitchens, including Mugaritz and elBulli in Spain, Le Louis XV in Monaco, and Spago and Chez Panisse in the United States. Expect Neroni to bring some creativity and verve to contemporary American cuisine. 

Celebrate Fútbol, Jose Andres Style

This summer at Jose Andres’ Mercado Little Spain, you can watch the World Cup while indulging in Spanish fare. At various times—whenever games are in progress—between June 11 and July 19, the massive Mercado space will transform into a venue for watching all things fútbol. Mercado will offer special $26 food-and-wine pairings at La Barra and Txula Steak

The Crown, the bar on the roof of Hotel 50 Bowery, is inviting you to get the party started early on Saturday, June 27. They’ve recently launched Skyline Spins, starting at 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. there will be a live DJ mixing head-bobbing tunes, as well as plenty of coffee and cocktails to get your weekend started right—21 floors above the city. Reserve your spot here. Here are 20 other spots you can party on a Big Apple rooftop this summer. 

Eating the Pura Vida Way (Yoga Mats not Included)

“Pura vida” is not just something people annoyingly scream after coming back from their vacations in Costa Rica. It’s also a new restaurant in the Flatiron District. Hailing originally from Miami, the new Pura Vida is a health-conscious eatery serving up salads, sandwiches, smoothies, and “bowls.” As expected, there is a lot of avocado.

The Man-Hamptons

Instead of making the trek out to the Hamptons this summer, let the Hamptons come to Manhattan, instead. At chef Mark Forgione’s Tribeca steakhouse, American Cut, you can order The Hamptons Meal, consisting of a Lobster Sliders, Caesar Salad or Truffle Fries, and a Martini or glass of Whispering Angel rosé. The cost is $29 and is available from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. 

A New Menu Fit for a King

King Tai, the 11-year-old bar in Crown Heights just started serving homemade food. Expect creative comfort dishes such as a Sticky Tofu Sandwich,  Arancini Scotch Eggs filled with saffron risotto, and a pork-licious Cuban Sandwich. The Kitchen is open from Thursday through Sunday night.  

Wagyu Happy Hour

Togyushi in Midtown has a new happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, featuring $7 small plates including the Wagyu Slider and Wagyu Negima Skewer, as well as $10 cocktails. The restaurant has also recently debuted a $60 three-course menu that includes choices of Wagyu Tartare, Wagyu Hamburg Steak, Wagyu Sukiyaki, and Basque-style Cheesecake, among other options.

Wednesday: Want a strong martini for a solid mid-week first date? Jac’s on Bond is calling us after writer Lauren Harano crafted this list of places.

Saturday: The couple who run Mắm, the wonderful Vietnamese restaurant on the Lower East Side, have just opened a Vietnamese-style cafe next door. So, you’ll find us dining out at Phe, which is only open on Saturdays and Sundays, noon to 4 p.m., for now. But stop in for a ca phe (or coffee) and a bánh mì chảo, a spread of what is essentially a banh mi sandwich—pickled vegetables, pate, and slices of pork, among other ingredients. 

Sunday: It’s Father’s Day, and we’re bringing dad to Mango Seed Brooklyn for a great jerk and a flight of rum. Need more ideas? We got you.
