Atlanta isn’t always the easiest city for late night dining, especially if you’re looking for something beyond fast food. But for those who know where to look, there are indeed kitchens serving thoughtful, satisfying meals well past 11 p.m.—and in some cases, into the early morning hours. From neighborhood dives and diners to standout spots in East Atlanta Village and along Buford Highway, these places prove that late night eating in Atlanta can still be worth seeking out.

Whether you’re closing out the night or just getting started, these are the spots regulars rely on.

Octopus Bar

Octopus Bar is one of the city’s most rewarding late-night finds, open from 10:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday, taking over the So Ba space in East Atlanta Village after it closes for the night. The kitchen keeps a rotating menu shaped by seasonal ingredients and global influence. Expect dishes like salt and pepper shrimp, ramen, and whole fish—all executed with care. It’s relaxed but intentional, making it a standout when you want something more elevated than the typical late night grub. 560 Gresham Ave., SE, Atlanta, octopusbaratl.com

The Southern Feed Store in East Atlanta Village is a food hall that brings together multiple vendors under one roof, slinging everything from cheesesteaks to pizza and sliders. It’s open until midnight most nights, and as late as 4 a.m. Friday and Saturday, with DJs and live music adding to the energy. 1245 Glenwood Ave. SE, Ste. 6, Atlanta, sfseav.com

El Rey del Taco

A Buford Highway essential, El Rey del Taco is where many Atlantans end up when the night stretches later than expected. Open until 1 a.m. most nights, and until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, it delivers consistently great tacos with housemade tortillas and a wide range of fillings, from al pastor to lengua. It’s casual, unpretentious, and always satisfying—exactly what you want late at night. 5288 Buford Hwy., Doraville, elreydeltacoatl.com

Open until 2 a.m. daily, the Po’Boy Shop in Decatur is a go-to when you’re craving something hearty late at night. With more than 20 varieties of po’boys served on classic Leidenheimer bread, the menu leans into New Orleans flavors with consistency. From crispy fried shrimp and oysters to roast beef dripping with gravy, each sandwich delivers that signature balance of richness and bold seasoning. 1369 Clairmont Rd., Decatur,  thepoboyshopatl.com

A Midtown institution since 1975, Woody’s remains a true late night stop on the weekends. Open until 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, it’s known for its cheesesteaks loaded with shaved beef, grilled onions, and melted cheese. Philly natives may say otherwise, but for the South, it’s a simple and nostalgic late night treat. 981 Monroe Dr., NE, Atlanta, woodyscheesesteaks.com

OK Yaki

Started in 2016 as a pop-up, OK Yaki brings something different to Atlanta’s late night lineup. Specializing in Japanese street food, this East Atlanta spot serves okonomiyaki and other Japanese comfort dishes until midnight Tuesday through Thursday, and until 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday. OK Yaki is now home to Atlanta’s So So Fed pop-up on Sundays and Mondays, and remains a favorite among those looking for bold flavors and dive bar vibes. 714 Moreland Ave., SE, Ste. D, Atlanta, okyakiatl.com

The menu is full of creative tacos and rotating specials that go beyond the norm. Start with the spicy red curry queso, and have no regrets. 77 West Paces Ferry Rd., NW, Ste. 35A, Atlanta, velvettaco.com

Trackside Tavern

One of Decatur’s longest-running dive bars, Trackside Tavern keeps the kitchen going until 3 a.m. on weekends. With pool tables, games, and a loyal following, it’s as much about the atmosphere as the food. The smoked wings are a standout. 313 E. College Ave., Decatur, visitdecaturga.com/directory/trackside-tavern

No late night eats list is complete without Waffle House. Open 24/7 across the city, it’s one of the few places you can always count on for waffles, coffee, sandwiches, and so much more. Whether it’s an All-Star breakfast or scattered, covered and smothered hash browns, Waffle House delivers consistency and familiarity at any hour. It may be simple, but it’s essential in Atlanta. 135 Andrew Young Int’l Blvd., NW, Atlanta, wafflehouse.com
