Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, which means no rushing home from work to throw on a costume, and no early alarm to cut the night short. From morning candy hunts to parties that run past midnight, Atlanta’s restaurants, rooftops, and bars are going all in.
Whether you’re dressing up the kids or yourself, here’s where to celebrate on Saturday, October 31.
Boo at the Zoo at Zoo Atlanta
For the first time, Zoo Atlanta’s family Halloween festival extends to the holiday itself, running 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 31. Kids can collect candy at eight stops along Trick-or-Treat Lane, and every piece is made with sustainable palm oil or none at all. There are also carnival games, crafts, costumed characters, and shows from magician Tommy Johns and the Science Guys of Atlanta. The event is free with general admission. 800 Cherokee Ave. SE, Atlanta, zooatlanta.org
Trick-or-Treat on The Roof at Ponce City Market
The Roof at Ponce City Market trades its usual skyline-and-skee-ball scene for a costumed candy hunt from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 31. Kids can work their way through trick-or-treat stations, then join a family costume parade where the most creative looks take home prizes. The rooftop’s boardwalk games, rides, and mini golf stay open but are sold separately. Trick-or-treat tickets are $10 for kids (5-12) and $15 for adults. 675 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE, Atlanta, poncecityroof.com
Halloween Afternoon Tea at The St. Regis Atlanta
Halloween gets the white-glove treatment at The St. Regis Atlanta, where the hotel’s annual Halloween Afternoon Tea returns to Astor Court on Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1. The familiar tiers of sweets and savory bites take on an eerie seasonal twist, and fine teas and Champagne round out the spread. Costumes are encouraged, so you can haunt it and flaunt it at the same time. Tea is $95 per person; reservations are required. 88 West Paces Ferry Rd. NW, Atlanta, opentable.com/astor-court-atlanta
Disney Villains Halloween Drag Brunch at City Winery
The bad guys finally get top billing at City Winery, where WUSSY’s drag brunch series turns Halloween over to Cruella, Maleficent, Ursula, and company. Hosted by Dotte Com, a lineup of Atlanta drag queens and kings performs villain-song favorites starting at 12:30 p.m. (doors at 11 a.m.) on Saturday, October 31. Families are welcome, so little monsters can come in costume, too. Brunch is ordered separately at your table, alongside City Winery’s house-made wines. 650 North Ave. NE, Atlanta, tickets.citywinery.com
Halloween Skelebration in Woodstock
Families north of the perimeter don’t have to fight Halloween traffic. Woodstock’s Halloween Skelebration runs from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 31 with treats, music, carnival games, crafts, inflatables, and mini golf so kids can run amok and burn off their sugar rush before the sun goes down. Food vendors on site take care of dinner. Best of all for parents, the whole thing is free. 101 Arnold Mill Rd., Woodstock, woodstock.recdesk.com

Elevated Spirits: Halloween Rooftop Mixology Class at St. Julep
For a Halloween that leans more toward shaking cocktails than chasing candy, head to St. Julep, the rooftop bar above Buckhead’s Kimpton Sylvan hotel. Its monthly mixology class lands on Saturday, October 31 this year, with Ocho tequila as the featured spirit. A pro behind the bar walks the class through drinks like La Rosa Muerta, a blush-pink mix of Ocho Blanco, pomegranate liqueur, lime, pineapple, orgeat, and agave. 374 East Paces Ferry Rd.
