Now in its fourth year, Bowl of ‘Zole heads back to Denver’s Skylight (833 Santa Fe Dr.) on Thursday, March 26, from 5 to 9 p.m.
But for those who just tuned in, Bowl of ’Zole is a food and drink festival celebrating two iconic Mexican items, pozole and agave spirits like mezcal and tequila. The festival originally started in Brooklyn in 2019, created by Jimmy Carbone and his co-founders Danny Mena (chef and author of Made in Mexico) and spirits expert Arik Torren. Shortly after, they brought the event to Boston, and then Denver in 2023.

The event brings together local chefs to showcase traditional and unique takes on the classic hominy-based stew. This year look for some festival favorites including Dana Rodriguez of Work & Class and Carne, Brian Rossi of Palenque Cocina y Agaveria, Jesus “Chuy” Gutierrez and Adrian Gutierrez of 3 Margaritas, and Oscar Padilla of Chulo Taco, Gaucho Parrilla, and the newly-opened Agave Blue Cantina in Arvada.
New this year, we’re told Rosenberg’s will be dishing out a pozole bagel. Also fresh on the scene, Christopher Chapman of Sauce Everywhere has grand pozole plans as well. Even more have joined the lineup, and you can see the list on the events page.

On the drink side, Bowl of ‘Zole highlights small-batch agave spirits producers from around Mexico to share and educate guests on the wonders of each expression. From raicilla to bacanora to sotol, expect around 300 different bottles to try, not that you have to hit each one.
“We like having Mexican chefs and chefs in the area who care about the heritage, as well as many authentic Mexican spirits with the ambassadors who really know the product,” Carbone told us one year. “It’s not going to be a mega festival, to me it’s more intimate.”
As event experts (think Top Taco, Rare Steak Festival, and Chicken Fight!), we can solidly say the pozole and mezcal party is a true delight. Grab a ticket here and come and see why.
