Denver is one of many cities around the country celebrating Mother Earth this month by crafting cocktails. Each drink sale helps to support various branches of Habitat for Humanity. Of course in the Mile High City the focus is Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver. Sponsored by Astral Tequila, now until Cinco de Mayo local bars offer a special Astral margarita on the menu. Each cocktail contributes towards building homes for those in need.

“We upcycle leftover agave fibers from our tequila distillation into adobe bricks to build homes for people in need, so that every Astral cocktail contributes to a good cause, not just during MargaritaCon, but year-round,” said Jennifer Rapp, brand director at Astral Tequila. “In the weeks leading up to Cinco de Mayo, it’s an incredible way to celebrate the nation’s favorite cocktail in a fun and meaningful way.”

In turn, these bricks get used to construct buildings in local communities in Mexico,. The company works in partnership with Hábitat para la Humanidad México to help build these abodes. It’s been a project from the beginning when the brand launchd in 2022.

Participating restaurants and bars include Locales, 54thirty Rooftop, Mizu Izakaya, Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar LoDo, The Art Hotel, and Kachina Cantina. In Boulder visit Centro Mexican Kitchen, and in Loveland, Pourhouse Bar & Grill will also be slinging the special margaritas. As a bonus, Astral Tequila is also donating $50,000 to Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the country.

“We identified more than 170 local bars around the country that not only excel in crafting delicious margaritas, but also share our passion for sustainability and giving back to the community,” added Rapp. “We’re thrilled to join forces with Denver’s dynamic bar community and bring the MargaritaCon celebration to this vibrant city.”

As for the spirit, Astral Tequila comprises 100-percent Blue Weber agave grown in Jalisco, Mexico. Using a tahona and bagazo during fermentation, a traditional, time-intensive process. The company offers three iterations, Blanco, Reposado and Añejo.

Help the cause and yourself with a margarita (or two) at participating venues. Then further the support with the MargaritaCon kit for $74. Inside you’ll find a bottle of Astral Tequila, limes, swag, a jigger, and Motel Margarita mix., available online.
