Since 2012, October 3 has been dubbed National Mean Girls Day, a date picked based on the date the protagonist of the movie Mean Girls first spoke to her crush. If you know the movie, then you’re aware on Wednesdays the girl group The Plastics don pink.

Even though the holiday isn’t on a Wednesday, get dressed in your best shade of rose and plan to go all pink this Friday. We’re talking clothes and cocktails, though feel free to add your own spin as well. Also celebrate by catching the film for free at an event, details below.

The Family Jones has made a drink so good, it won’t be found in the Burn Book. Think a sparkling sipper with floral notes thanks to the distillery’s own Annika Jones Vodka, crème de violette, lemon, and prosecco. 3245 Osage St., Denver, thefamilyjones.co

El Lunchador

Sweat pants or skirt, you can wear anything at Lady Jane and enjoy this vibrant pink cocktail. Inside the pretty drink you’ll get notes of bright tomatillo, cilantro, cucumber, prickly pear, and a subtle chile kick. 2021 W. 32nd Ave, Denver, ladyjanedenver.com

The Floor Is Guava

Head to Cherry Creek’s Forget Me Not bar for a peach-pink drink that we are sure Regina George would be sipping on vacation. Inside the glass you’ll find Vida Mezcal, guava fruit, Ancho Reyes chili liqueur, Aperol, a bit of cacao, and fresh lime. 227 Clayton St., Denver, forgetmenotdenver.com

Beet Spritz

Bright pink beet spritz cocktail served in a tall wine glass with ice and lemon twist, placed on a wooden table with napkin and plate.

Mezcaleria has all the credentials to become a Plastics’ favorite, after all, it just received a prestigious Michelin star. The vegetable-forward cocktail has a smoky, earthy, and effervescent profile where mezcal meets beet, dill, and a flavorful Mexican aperitif for a naturally pink drink. 2550 15th St. Denver, mezcaleriaalma.com

Hibiscus Margarita

Chef Johnny added a new member to his group, Alteño in Cherry Creek. Of course the addition has a pink drink for Mean Girls, and this take on a classic margarita has a rose-hued, floral bent. Inside you’ll find a blend of Milagro blanco tequila with hibiscus agave and lime. 249 Clayton St, Denver, altenorestaurant.com

Just for Mean Girls Day, NADC Burger  in Larimer Square, is whipping up a special $6 cocktail named for the pink gang in the movie. Think vodka, peach schnapps, cranberry, and Swing Juice sparkling vodka fruit punch, all stirred together for some drama in the glass. 1441 Larimer St., Denver, nadcburger.com

The Event

Not a Damn Chance Burger (NADC) is hosting a free outdoor movie screening of the film. The evening kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with Mean Girls trivia hosted by Denver Trivia League, where winners can score NADC merch or gift cards, followed by the film at 6:30 p.m. Guests can enjoy burgers, fries, sodas, canned beers, and signature cocktails from an NADC outdoor bar and grill, including the aforementioned The Plastics Punch. No tickets are required. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair, grab a burger and a drink, and join the fun.
