Dreams of all-you-can-eat sushi are common among Houston food lovers, and Grace and Leo Xia, the duo behind Duck N Bao and Korean BBQ spot Hongdae 33, are bringing those dreams to life with their newest venture, Seven Sushi & Robata. Taking over the former Fu Fu Restaurant space at 9889 Bellaire Boulevard in Houston’s Asiatown, Seven Sushi & Robata offers all-you-can-eat sushi, crudos, and flame-seared robata dishes within Dun Huang Plaza.

Like its sister concept Hongdae 33, Seven Sushi offers guests the chance to eat to their heart’s content with an all-you-can-eat format available at two price tiers within a two-hour dining window. For $37 per person, diners can order unlimited selections from the core menu. For an additional $20, they can access premium sushi options such as bluefin tuna, scallop, and salmon belly, along with specialty grilled items including Korean short rib, Hawaiian ribeye, and Cajun or garlic-butter shrimp.

While the premium option won’t garner any regrets, the core menu is impressive in itself. The Xias take pride in sourcing fresh fish and crafting sauces from scratch in house, with the menu showcasing nigiri, maki, handrolls, and traditional skewers ranging from teriyaki chicken thigh and chicken gizzards and hearts to miso beef, pork belly, and fresh vegetables—all prepared over a Japanese robata.

A selection of crudos in varieties like octopus, yuzu-marinated salmon, scallop with seared crab and fish egg, and toro tataki complement the sushi and robata, while a number of small hot plates including agedashi tofu, tempura shrimp, and chicken karaage are also on offer. Mochi ice cream for dessert rounds out the menu.

Inspired by the lively late-night energy at Hongdae 33, Seven Sushi & Robata will serve guests well into the evening and offer a robust beverage program to complement the festive atmosphere. The restaurant is open until midnight daily, with seatings available until 11 p.m., and features a full bar with beer, wine, sake, both classic and signature cocktails, and crafted shots—developed by Grace, who leads the beverage programs for all of the couple’s restaurant concepts,

Those familiar with the former Fu Fu Restaurant space will notice a difference as the Xias gave the space a refresh, partnering with the same designer that assisted with the design for Hongdae 33 and Duck N Bao’s Cypress and Memorial locations. The 4,000-square-foot space boasts clean lines, stone tilework, and brass accents and offers seating for 160 across 32 tables. Eyes are naturally drawn to the shoji-style latticework that covers the walls and ceiling, while a backlit marble waterfall countertop creates a soft glow within the dining room.

Seven Sushi & Robata is now open daily for full-service dining, accepting walk-ins only, during lunch and dinner from 11:30 a.m. to midnight.
