From everyday training biscuits to celebratory cakes and “yappy birthday” treats, these places offer plenty of ways to spoil your pooch. Even seniors and those with sensitive tummies can chow down on several options made from wholesome, tasty ingredients. Time to leash up and take a w-a-l-k to these top dog bakeries in Denver.

For more than thirty years, Cosmo’s has crafted a range of nutritious dog treats. Recipes center on natural ingredients and are free from added salt and sugar. Baked low and slow, its biscuits last up to a year. However, we would be shocked if your pup doesn’t devour them long before then. 

This shop also crafts custom cakes with your choice of colors and theme, with designs featuring squirrels, tennis balls, and the outdoors. This local dog bakery’s freezer is always stocked with bone-shaped cakes featuring wholesome ingredients like shredded carrots, peanut butter, and apple sauce. For pint-sized pups, pick up a mini cake donut topped with rainbow sprinkles. This boutique pet store and dog bakery in Cherry Creek is sure to put some pep in your pup’s step. Noses will be drawn straight to the cookie case filled with a rotating selection of cute, frosted treats. The shop also crafts carrot cake squares, goodies dotted with canine-safe carob chips, and birthday cakes made from organic wheat flour, applesauce, and yogurt frosting.

Head to Biscotti Hound for dog-friendly gelato, cannoli treats, and charming made-to-order birthday cakes. This South Park Hill bakery uses a signature carrot cake recipe that canine companions are sure to love. A variety of biscuits are also available and sold in one-pound bags. Formerly a Three Dog Bakery franchise location, this shop in the Highland neighborhood recently relaunched as an independent concept by locals Chris Hunt and Amy Sakalian. But regardless of the rebrand, many of the four-legged regulars’ favorites remain: Carrot Cake, Margarita Pupcakes, and Drooly Dream Bars packed with peanut butter.

Though decorated with a collage of dog photos, most of the goods behind the counter are actually for pastry-loving people. This locally-owned pet store has been serving Boulder since 1998. After years of operating in Loveland, this local bakery has moved and is set to reopen in downtown Berthoud this October. Stop by the new location for treats for the whole family. In addition to frosted Pup Cakes made from peanut butter, carrots, and whole wheat flour, B Sweet bakes yummy goods for the humans of the house. Smart Cookie Barkery

Back in 2012, Smart Cookie established itself as Colorado’s first “food truck” for dogs. Its treat-carrying tricycle popped up at local dog parks, farmers’ markets, and other events before founders Scott and Bri Bradley opened their commercial kitchen in Golden. Now, the brand sells treats nationwide, though its use of wholesome ingredients hasn’t changed. 

Novel proteins star in its soft and chewy packaged treats, which come in flavor combos like Rabbit Pumpkin, Trout Apple, and Wild Boar Sweet Potato. There’s also a selection of vet-approved functional recipes that support dogs’ hips and joints, as well as skin and coat health.
