Another fire hits a Denver favorite. In happier news, the Japanese sandwich pop-up everyone loves is staying around, though moving locations. We’re also hip to another pop-up in Uptown, this time it’s all about tacos. A new brunch has us heading to Park Hill, and for dinner, we’re checking out a funky pasta menu.

The 411
Another Fire, Another Loss

Yet another fire has hit the Denver restaurant scene, this time at beloved casual Italian spot, Parisi in the Berkeley neighborhood. The fire broke out on the second floor on May 13, damaging the ceiling and causing a lot of debris and mess on the ground floor. Right now it’s closed until further notice. The owners noted no one was hurt in the fire.
On a social media post the restaurant encourages people to hold on to any gift cards as they plan to open again. As for any deposits, they advised refunds are coming but right now the POS system isn’t working properly.
Mexican Pop-Up Opens
Head to Denver’s Ace Eat Serve at 501 E. 17th Ave. in Uptown for the Carreras Tacos pop-up. Basically, the team rolled in a food truck that will be slinging tacos during the coffee shop hours, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The plan is to run the pop-up for at least a few weeks, but it may stay longer if people can’t get enough.
More Japanese Sandwiches

Sandoitchi has decided to stick around Denver even longer than the original planned closing on March 7. The only change, it’s moving from The Source and into the RiNo Art Park at 1959 35th St. in Denver. It should be there all summer from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Change in Plans
The eight-month long UP NXT DEN series announced its June residency is changing. Originally it was going to be chef Matthew Drazick Halip of the pasta omakase Domi. For reasons unknown to us, he won’t be participating. Founder Brandon Santos said the team is working on booking someone else, to be determined. Currently the incubator is hosting David Arnold and Freehand Provisions.
On the Menu
More Pasta Please

Boombots Pasta Shop has a new menu we’re dying to check out. Think Pimento Cheese Agnolotti, Gyros Cavatelli, Congee Risotto, Bucatini Primavera, Pep’s Pizza Lumache, and Spring Roll Salad. The Sunnyside pasta den is the latest project from chef Cliff Blauvelt, and you can check it out at 2647 W. 38th Ave. in Denver.
Lucina Does Brunch
For the first time, chef Erasmo Casiano’s Lucina Eatery and Bar in Park Hill serves brunch. The meal launched May 10 and runs every Sunday from 10 to 3 p.m. The menu pays homage to Latino breakfast fare through the Gallo Pinto (a Costa Rican rice and bean dish served with two eggs), the Papas con Todo (a crispy potato dish with queso de oro, chorizo and peppers) and the Pastelito (a Cuban pastry filled with guava).
On the beverage side you have classics such as Bloody Marys and Mimosas, as well as Latin American staples like Batidos (a fruit milkshake made with choice of guava, strawberry, coconut or melon) and Cafe con Leche, otherwise known as coffee with steamed milk.
Don’t Miss This Week
Need some dining out recommendations? Try these three hot spots, and make sure to check out the week’s events.

Tuesday: It feels like soup weather this week, so we’re tapping into the list our writer Sara Rosenthal did at the beginning of the year. With that in mind, we’re heading to Insee Father Noodle House, where are you getting your bowl of goodness?
Wednesday: Celebrating 20 years of Steuben’s in Uptown has us hankering for a green chili cheeseburger. The only question: lunch or dinner?
Friday: Heading over to the RiNo location of Hearth for a bit of breakfast today. After watching chef Ali Spahr make croissants during last week’s takeover, it’s all we want.
