When your drink is a work of art, you want to put it in an equally enticing vessel.

When it comes to the art of mixology, we know just how much thought and precision goes into the process, from ingredient selection to mixing method to the final garnish. But how much thought should you put into the thing that’s holding your cocktail? According to Tony Meza, beverage director at the Union Station’s Cooper Lounge, a lot. “Glassware is way more than just a vessel to carry a liquid—it helps to tell the story of each drink and helps give the guest a great visual before they’ve even had a taste,” he says. “The right glass can show off the color and texture of a drink and even help enhance the smell of a cocktail. It creates an emotional connection the moment [the guest] sees the cocktail.”
