You have a new reason to visit Flatiron Park in Boulder thanks to the newly-opened East & Co., a market hall open Monday through Friday. The space comes complete with day-to-night food and beverage offerings and a whole lot of space to enjoy it in.
“We aimed to design a place to work, meet, gather, and shop, with an experience that moves with you from a morning Ozo latte to a Boulder Farmers Market salad or rustic sandwich to a small plate or entree and craft cocktail at the end of the day,” said co-owner Josh Dinar, founder of Working Title Food Group and co-founder of DiningOut. “It was also a unique opportunity to work with a forward-thinking developer who shared a vision for something Flatiron Park was ready to welcome, a large, elevated all-day destination.”
Go For Breakfast, Bring Home Dinner
Open now, East & Co. is a collaboration between BioMed Realty and Working Title Food Group, with operations led by EVG Hospitality. It opens daily at 7 a.m., complete with a full coffee counter featuring OZO Coffee, a smoothie and juice bar, and hot breakfast options. To eat, think pastries from Black Box Bakery, Moe’s Bagels featuring daily rotating cream cheeses, a housemade breakfast sandwich, and the Rocky Mountain açaí bowl. And in true Colorado fashion, there’s also a breakfast burrito on the “secret” menu.
The Kitchen at East & Co. works with the Boulder County Farmers Market to bring in fresh, seasonal produce to incorporate into the lunch and dinner menu. Taste the state through rotating sandwiches served on Kinship baguettes, with options such as the roasted chicken with herb aioli, butter lettuce, eggplant caponata, fresh basil, and housemade ricotta.
Other favorite dishes include a smash burger with local grass-fed beef and smoked gouda, a steak sandwich, a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, and a clam po’ boy. Also grab an order of the homemade potato chips, whipped feta, lamb kofta skewers, chorizo-stuffed dates, and croquettes with fungi from Jacob’s Mushroom.
The venue also does take-and-heat sheet tray meals. These oven-ready dinners are designed to offer a quality home meal with zero effort. The menu will expand, but right now it includes braised short ribs with pommes purée, and spring vegetables; and roast chicken with asparagus, grilled lemon, and roasted potatoes done a la chef Heston Blumenthal style. Add on a bottle of wine and other accoutrements from the onsite market, and you have an easy and delicious meal to enjoy in the comfort of your own kitchen.
Craft Cocktails and Other Beverages
Beverage director Volkan Olmez, formerly of B&GC at the Halcyon Hotel in Denver’s Cherry Creek, has built a cocktail list centered around reimagined classics. For example, the Vesper Martini, a seasonal Margarita, house Negroni, and two types of spritzes grace the menu. Imbibers can also enjoy wine by the glass and bottle, as well as draft and bottled beer. Those eschewing alcohol can enjoy several spirit-free drinks and mocktails.
“Our bar program complements the many ways we expect people will enjoy East & Co.,” Olmez said in a statement. “We’re excited to meet our regulars and to see what people respond to, which will help direct how our program evolves over time.”
There’s also the aforementioned coffee counter and juice and smoothie bar.
Moving Into Flatiron Park
As for location, Jon Bergschneider, BioMed Realty’s president of West Coast Markets, said residents around Flatiron Park were missing “a central place to gather, connect and recharge.” This sparked the idea to create East & Co., both for the people living in the area and those looking for a Boulder hub to settle into during the weekday hustle.
Overall, the design of East & Co. centers around a multi-use concept. The lounge area near a grand fireplace invites lingering. Morning work sessions can be conducted in the bright and welcoming coffee zone by the front windows. Get full service in the restaurant, complete with cozy booths and stand-alone tables.
There’s also a great outdoor terrace and community lawn for those nice Colorado days. A game room and a private conference room offer even more options and are perfect for private and semi-private events for groups of all sizes. East & Co. also offers free parking, and you can make a reservation for dinner via OpenTable.
